Marantz - CD6003 & PM7001 - Speakers ?

hi Krishna ,

speakers specs .. 85W continuous power at nominal impedance of 6 ohms .....so 85 is not dynamic power ....yes like u mentioned clipping could have taken place ........but the amp has a protective circuit which gets activated ....so u come to know ....this never happened ....

also if continuous power is 50W and my amp i capable of delivering 70W ...why would that underpower speakers ?

What I meant is speakers may not be to the level of the Amp in terms actual power the amp is rated at 6 Ohms. If you observe a vast difference in the highs then it is better to test the amp with the same CD player and CDs on amother pair of QUADs . Burn out period of the speakers may not be the cause for the treble to come down cosiderably as you said.
