I am planning to buy Marantz 6003. Any idea about:

1. Approx price
2. Where to buy in Kolkata? (should I contact distributors in Delhi/ Chennai etc for a price?)

Hi ,

I have trying to buy Marantz CD 6003 and PM 6003 combo in mumbai .........while CD6003 is available .........PM is not .........i contacted the distributor in mumbai - MZ Audio - Distributors, Dealers and Suppliers of Marantz, Boston Acoustics, Snell Acoustics, Mackintosh and Escient products in India. - name is ashraf - he directed me to Boomarang (Vijay) ..............


Here are the prices ....

At Boomarang .....cd was available and its around 25000
PM he said will have to order and will cost around 34000

At Voila in Mumbai .....the same CD was available for 21000 ....

So prices differ .........be careful .......bargain ..........i have not bought it yet because PM is not available .........

Let me know if you get any info regarding this ....

CD 6003 is good .....PM 6003 ...no clue ...did not even get a chance to audition them ....there are others in the forum who have it ....check with them

Soberoi, I have mentioned this before. It is wrong to compare the two. Norge is a small time manufacturer and sells at low prices to fullfill the requirements of a particular market segment. Marantz is an International company.

Everything boils down to how much you can spend.

I have not auditioned Norge products specifically ........but we have grown up with Norge .....and many other Indian Amplifiers .........they are used on Public places in Mumbai ......during Buddha Jayanthi , Ambedkar Jayanthi , Shivaji Jayanthi , Ganesh Chaturthi , marriages etc


I was always fascinated by them .....since at that time we used to listen to a portable sharp , philips etc .....the kind of sound and output these amps produced were very good .............in comparison

International companies invest a lot of money in R&D and then come up with a wide range of products ...........Indian companies i doubt do that ?

Apart from price ... Quality is a imp factor .........U will get Marantz amps which have a five yr warranty ...........some are 15 yrs old and yet running .... they get sold and resold .......i am not sure if Indian amps can give that kind of guarantee for their products

one of my friend from bangalore very recently picked up the CD 6003 from him for 17

agree that the kind of R&D that goes into the products that companies such as Marantz make is phenominal. But my concern was- Marantz pm6003 rated at 45 W @ 8ohm and Norge 1000 rated at about 75W @ 8 ohm, is the price difference between the two worth it and will i be able to take the juice out of wharf 9.2 powering them with Marantz @ 45W??

i know that your tea will be as sweet as the amount of sugar you add but still at double the price , where people say that norge is as good as marantz/denon, is the difference worth it.

I auditioned Norge and Marantz pm6003 on the same set of Wharf 9.2 and i had my Nusrat cd , even though i am don't have any gifted set of ears but two songs and i could feel the differnce between the two, although Norge was sweet but Marantz was lil more sweeter

i guess its boiling down to my pocket now!!

Any place or anyone in Delhi or NCR where i can audition Norge 1000+Wharf 9.2?? I would really appreciate the help.

PM 6003 is not a amp one should buy despite all the reviews ....i realised it much later ....

the output it produces is too less to drive most of the speakers ....you will end up cranking the volume and that will finally lead to clipping ....

the amp also does not have a pre-out /in ....wherein u can probably connect another amp at a later date for more power .....so basically the amp can only be used as a standalone

it can be used as a second system in a very small area where u may not require to turn up the volume

go for a second hand amp if its available ..........preferrably with a output of atleast above 70w ........ideal will be above 100 W at 8 ohms ........this will take care of wharf and others also

you are absolutely right , i even found it the same with a much higher rated marantz stereo amp

do chk out the Yamaha AX497 integrated , i owned this earlier and was very much impressed with it
