Apart from price ... Quality is a imp factor .........U will get Marantz amps which have a five yr warranty ...........some are 15 yrs old and yet running .... they get sold and resold .......i am not sure if Indian amps can give that kind of guarantee for their products

Please refer to June edition of "What HI-FI" sound and vision magazine. They have compared five amps in the same price range including a Rotel RA-04SE . Marantz PM6003 is rated to be the best and given a five star rating. Please check this out.

I am aware of Hi FI reviews about Marantz PM6003 .....Hence my first statement was "despite reviews" .......it was one of the options which I considered when i purchased mine ......

the point is u need sufficient power to drive your speakers , especially when u crank up the volume ......PM 6003 will fall short ....so will others which are in the range of 40 - 50 W ......they may be musical ....then u need to get speakers accordingly ......


U will realise this once u connect everything and start playing .....

I have a PM7001 (70W at 8 ohms and 100W at 4 ohms ) with CD 6003 and Quad 11L2 (85 W at 6 ohms)

Even I cannot go beyond a certain point with the volume button ..... if I had a amp which can belt out around 100W at 8 ohms then i am on a safe wicket .......

Check Speaker specifications .....especially continuous output / Rated for amp / and sensitivity ..........then accordingly decide on the amp ......of course u have to like the sound .........

Coming back to this post...did anyone get a good price on the Marantz PM6003 and if yes could you let me know where? I've called up various people and am getting quotes ranging between 24k (mzaudio/ mumbai) to 30k!!(the Audio People/ chennai). Is 24K too much for this?

Quoted price for pm6003 in goa is 23.5k. He will come down further if more than 3 orders he gets as group. So please form a group and let that dealer know. I think i have already posted contact info of Ripples audio in this thread. They are ready ship all over india. He will get the amp by 15 aug.

Disclaimer: i have no personal interest in this. I know this dealer because i bought my pm6002 from him in May.
