Hi,
I seem to have got it right and would like to share my experience.
Recently I purchased the Perreuax 250 i Integrated amp as part of my regular upgrades. This purchase left me asking many questions as I was initially not happy with the performance as compared to the one I had heard at the dealers. This was pinned down to an non xlr cd player and the pairing speakers ( Monitor Audio Silver RX 6 speakers.) The speakers could not manage the power of the Perreaux and the Perreaux could not do justice to the set up.
Due to budget constraints , I purchased the MI DAC from Musical Fidelity which has balanced outputs which I could connect to the Perreuax. In addition I upgraded to the B & W CM9 floor standers. There was a marked improvement in SQ with the B & W able to handle the power and the M1 sending out some decent stuff to the Perreuax .
A few days back I have bought the Marantz SA 11 S2 Cd Player and what a difference. Since this is not a conventional pairing , Marantz SA 11 S2 with the Perreaux , I strongly recommend it . The result is sheer listening pleasure. Dynamics , bass , warmth all are in plentiful.
