Hi...

I would like to purchase a player, confusion in finalizing either media player or blueray player.

Please suggest me and model too...
Thanks in advance:)

If you are into gaming and have a bluray collection-- I would look at the Sony PS3

If you are primarily going to be streaming video content I would suggest a Media player such as Dune HD Base

Are you willing to buy (expensive) blu-ray disks? Get BD Player
Are you a download guy? Get media player.

Would recommend the mede8er, play Blue ray iso's too, very good firmware,
i use one of their models 400xs2

Raj,

I dont know our budget, but if you have enough budget you can be a proud owner for BD+CD+DVD+ HDD Media Player+Network Media player with "DUNE HD MAX",Though its more pricing, but "ONE BOX FOR ALL MEDIA PLAYBACKS" and you never require an upgrade until an new Red-ray or green-ray disk are INVENTED :)

here you go for some information about the same from our forum, check with its user and get review on same before you decide

Thanks for the replys my budget is 10 -15k currently am using my pc as source and i will playing movies and songs from hardisk

imo in the range a blu ray player and a media player both do not have a very good audio part.
so better is a blu ray player...just for future proofing..in case anyday you like to play bd disks..
sony 490 is avilable in many sites at very attracative rate...but i strongly oppose...as it cannot play flac...
surprisingly my 1.5 k nameless media player smoothly playes flacs.
you can go for 220 from panasonic...it can play flac..
one question as your avr is hdmi based..and you will bitstream obvouisly from your new player whther br or media.....so what is the point to pay for the audio part..as signals will be carried digitally from player to avr........
i mean audio part is DAC you mean...or the main processing...

Your Specifications on the file formats will help a lot.
If you want to play limited media files like mkv's, avi, dvix-codec, MP4 and light music - MP3/FLAC's, I would suggest you get a good Blu-Ray Player with HDD support(The Panny or the LG-BDP550) as it is sufficient. Also, be carefull with the region locking of your player.
Owning a media player might help if you have an enormous collection(in terms of file types and not size), otherwise a BDP will be future-proof.

Blu-ray is now a fully net-connected device with many features such as IPTV offer catch-up TV, video on demand services and more.
