mera HTPC

you missed my point, I've nothing against downloading, I said when one can afford and things are available downloading can't be justified!!

Do you think a person who can afford to buy a PC (just to see films and listen to music) at 40K need to download 24x7?

a few points to note
1.Downloading is an addiction, I know FMs here who are ready to spend 50K on an AVR but not 500/- for a THE HURT LOCKER BD, thats a problem in attitude.

2.You know better how many prospective film buffs are looking for "The Day The Clown Cried" or "Broken Lance" and how many for "Life of Pi" or "Argo"

3.I myself struggle to get originals, when I was a student just from my own hard fought and earned money bought every LP I wanted, its quite possible, all that matters is how you see a thing, I only know a thing - if you want something dearly you will find it eventually

I say respect originality and when you can't (afford or availability) then think of something else

just gave my opinion, pls don't take it otherway

1. Valid point .... respect here ....... download addiction is very true, one example I can provide which I see so often is people purchasing a high end android phone for 30-40K and seem to find it difficult to purchase legitimate 50-100 Rs app from Google Store ....

2. Agreed, but ultra movie buffs like me who wants to see every movie and TV series before he leave earth, purchasing all is not viable or possible ..:). But I get the point :)

3. What if one wants everything dearly .... :D .... but again I get the point. I was so happy when I read that iTunes was launching in India and I thought finally I would be able to purchase FLAC legally and easily, and believe me I did want that, but alas, iTunes only offered MP3 and that is something I did not want ...... so I was back to ahm!!! same route ....

Q:Can someone please suggest where can i buy Silverstone Case in India (online??). Didn't find listed on flipkart OR ebay india

Q:How useful is front panel display for HTPC case. what all can it display.

Get the 840 pro over the 840. The 840 uses TLC nand which only has a life of 1000 writes which basically means the drive won't last very long. In comparison MLC nand in the 840 pro has the usual 5000 writes longevity.

1. Try theitdepot for HTPC case.

2. Not much useful. Most of these front panels are from iMON. The software can be configured to display system information, news etc. It can also be configured to display information from xbmc and other players like currently playing file name, artist etc. The built-in IR receiver can be used to control media players and also to start and shutdown the pc.

Finally I put together my HTPC. I bought my last piece, the case from Nehru Place/Delhi for around Rs. 2300 - Cooler Master-Elite 360.

Had few scares while assembling like -everything powers up but no video and no bios error beeps..forgot to plug in the CPU power :)

Initially I installed OPenElec(installation using USB was super smooth) but was having issues detecting sound drivrs/AVR with stable builds. This was resolved by installing the latest Beta build but it wont detect my Lenovo N5902 Multimedia Remote. Anywaz..I decided to switch to windows 7. I am launching XBMC on startup and it takes about 15 sec flat to boot inot XBMC :).

Here are few pics:

Sorry for being late, dont know how i missed such good debate bumping the thread :ohyeah:

AKD,
Your point is 100% Perfect, I got the same words from a experience person and later myself got experienced.

In my school days i use to save money and get "Custom recorded cassettes" for low cost and wold ask my Uncle(Electronics repair Guy) to "Improve the amps performance "so that i can get more out of what cassette i have.

HE would simple reply " Get company original Cassette it would sound awesome even in a basic set-up", I didn't took it serious.

Now i got some experience and running to get some FLAC:) for all my fav Albums alteast though its not possible to get everything i want in FLAC.

When a source is original and flawless\loseless then it can be sound good even in basic set-up.:clapping:
