Hello !

This is a post to report a function I was invited to attend.
It was in Mumbai - Juhu over the week end.
Saturday & Sunday - 5th & 6th March, 2011.

Hosted by - Mr. Vijay Singh [Boomerang]
Master of Ceremonies - Mr. Gratin Vaz [chief audio consultant]
Location - Juhu - Mumbai [Boomerang Audio Store]
Gear on Demo - [Main] Morel - The Fat Lady + Avalon Indira & Simaudio & Accuphase + Chord + Straightwire.

Some pics - the party was well hosted & arrangements were most lavish - Red & White Wine + Scotch Whisky + Vodka etc.

Lots of people attended & this was a great opportunity for the music lover & audiophile community in Mumbai to meet & listen to good quality audio gear well set up & correctly presented in the right atmosphere....

Mr. Gratin Vaz [chief technical consultant] had done an excellent job. The Fat Lady 'really sang' ! Acoustics + Speaker Set Up etc. were meticulously looked into & the sound was full & rich. Simaudio was offering the electronics. Cables were from Vitus Audio + Supra + Chord + Straightwire etc.

How I hope & wish, that other audio D & D's take on this strategy & host a few functions like this. It is good for Audio by & large.

Incidentally is it Boomarang with an 'a' or an 'e'?

You mentioned audio gear correctly set up and presented.Gratin would be among the most knowledgable people in India for doing that.But because of the high rental value of commercial space there are certain limitations to auditions at a dealer's showroom or an audio fest arranged in a hotel.
For the sort of gear auditioned at Boomarang I would prefer a 500 sq feet rectangular room 30 by 18 or so.Speakers firing down the long wall.Distance from back wall of close to 8-10 feet.Distance from side wall of 4 feet.Distance between speakers of 10 feet or so.Slight toe in.A listening position 14-15 feet away and dead centre of the speakers.For music ONLY large scale orchestral music :)
I am new to HiFi and have a negligible experience of hi end audio gear compared to you guys,but that's the way I would like to audtion the Accuphase,Moon,Fat Lady and Thiel.Hypothetically,how would the SF Cremona's measure up to these speakers when pared with an Accuphase cdp and amp?

Yes;
GV is a great guy & his knowledge on Audio is 'supreme'
He has done a good job with the Morel Fat Lady !
The room was 400 sq. ft. approx & there was 5 ++ feet from each side wall.
The front baffle too was about 5 feet from the rear wall & the speakers were about 9 feet apart.
All these are my approximations - I may be wrong. So please do not hold me accountable for it.

I came away very satisfied @ 2345 hours on Sunday night.
I had gone there 2 times to listen..
Saturday @ 1400 hours & also on Sunday @ 2100 hours.
It was a weekend well spent....

This is an 'understatement'
G.V. is one of the best & most helpful audio installers in the country.
Each time I visit him, he shares so much knowledge with me.
He is truly a 'gifted' individual !
Not only does he know a lot - technically, but his experience in audio set up is vast - also he is a very open person & is always ready to help !
He has travelled well & has had the good fortune of having some real international guru's helping him.
If G.V. can be called to your house & asked to 'install' for you, the performance of your audio gear will surely 'leap frog' !!!

They sure will help the audio fraternity in India to grow.

I am sure they will take this initiative ahead with Accapella / MBL etc in Mumbai - soon. This year I am sure...

I too went to boomarang.

Great setup, and a lovely listening room.

The system was set up with attention to detail. The imaging was Very good too.
Not often that a Mumbai audiophile can get to hear 2 Top Notch speakers, and ofcourse Moon and Accuphase electronics.

A Great treat.
