I'm from Bangalore and I'm about to buy a plasma TV - mostly Panasonic.

I'm scared after reading the thread:
http://www.hifivision.com/television/20568-broken-panasaonic-3d-plasma-50vt20.html

The opinions about the mounting job done by Panasonic folks across numerous posts here merit concern. I'm an engineer who usually goes for DIY for small repairs in my home both electrical and mechanical - for it I've necessary tools like drill, hammer, etc.
1. Would you recommend that I fix it up myself?
2. Would you know a local guy who does a good job at this?

I prefer an angular mounting on one of the corners of my living room given its design, dimensions and sitting arrangement vis-a-vis flat mounting on one of the walls. Panasonic charges 5K for angular mounts :annoyed:
1. Has anyone got any experience with this?
2. Do you think those mounts should be that costly?
3. Do you think I can get cheaper mounts from elsewhere without compromising on quality?

Another option is to keep it on a furniture top - saves me of mountings and gives me freedom of rearranging my room. What are the drawbacks, if any? I had a look at few of them in shops yesterday and the simplest one was at a cost of 2.5K, a more utility driven was at 5K but I liked the one priced at 7K. But what concerned me was all of them were just 19inch high . Is 19 inch an appropriate height? Can somebody pls validate it!

:signthankspin: in advances for your responses,
Rahul

I would suggest a TV stand for your use. Find a good carpenter and assemble one that suits your needs. The 19" height seems too small. Place the TV at your eye level while watching. In my home, the TV is placed on a stand which I remember is around 33" high.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
