Recently I had an opportunity to get some old and rare (supposedly!!!) LP's and 78's which were in the possession of a senior acquaintance who agreed to part with it after my persuasion.....not for free of course! Along with some old LP's and box sets the collection also comprised of some 78's by MSS, ML Vasanthakumari, Palani Vijayalakshmi and DK Pattamal etc.
Two box sets of MS Subbulakshmi were a part of this collection and I was conveyed by this uncle that these are quite rare and hence valuable....that I paid a good price for the collection is s separate issue . But it was more to please him!
The box sets are as follows:
1. MS Subbulakshmi - Concert Album : Set of 3 LP's, HMV
2. MS Subbulakshmi - Music Recital at the United Nations on Sunday 23 October 1966: Set of 3 LP's, Odeon
Sorry for the bad quality of pics as it was a mobile pic. I am yet to clean the LP's and play them.
Sincerely I am quite naive to the MSS's classical music and my listening of MSS is limited to the Sri Venkatesh Suprabhatam and Sri Vishnu Sahastranamam. I would now like to understand from our experts and collectors on this forum the real value and rarity of these box sets and 78's of all the others.
It is not my intention to solicit sale of these box sets in this post but rather to understand if these are really rare and valuable and do I take pride in having it in my possession.
