Murthy's Cables ( tools & trades ) bangalore

I have never tried the DAC interconnects , but the amazon basic RCA sound very bad. Murthy's interconnect sound way better.

You can get them at 1850 a pair excluding shipping. Good thing is mr.murthy allows you go return them if you find no difference
Does he also make a RCA to 3.5MM interconnect ? for my headphone amp

I too spoke with Mr Murthy and he is going to ship two of his power cables - for my Marantz amp and CD Player. He said right away that he will ship them and I can test them before I chose to buy them. Till date nobody hasn’t returned his cables.

He is a true gentleman and a rare human species in these days of throat-cutting commercialisation.

I’ll post my feedback once I have the cables after proper burn in.

Received two power cables today. First tried only on the Marantz CD player as advised. Can’t say there is a night and day difference - I don’t have golden ears, but I feel there is a tiny bit more sparkle to the sound in the upper midrange. Did A/B with a familiar track.
Cant say this isn’t altogether placebo.

But the cables are very very good quality , built to last a lifetime that’s for sure.

Okay a furthur update :

After I plugged in the power cable in the amplifier , I have felt a change in the bass response . It’s bit hard to describe the change - a slight but noticeable reduction in boominess as well as in the ‘attack ‘.
(I’m aware these are unscientific and very relative terms ).
But this was noticeable unlike the effect on CD player.

I described it to Mr Murthy who said I need to give it minimum 100 hours to burn in.

Will post impressions post burn-in.

I was also suggested to give it a 'minimum' 100 hours of burn in.
I am not an advocate of the process of burn in and do not indulge in it normally but I am going to give in to his advice since he is the maker of the cables. He should know something that I dont.
I am quite sure nothing will change for me in next 72 hours but I have nothing to lose.

Exactly, two days back I received the Speaker Cables for front stage (he suggested that it should be sufficient). The Cables are solidly built, Banana Connectors are tough and insulated. I will wait to hear any difference in sound quality because I am only into Movies, in any case the cables are worth the investment. At least a peace of mind that my setup isn't missing anything on Speaker Cables front.

Same here. I have ordered fronts and center channel speaker cable from him, waiting for delivery. I have ordered 400/- per meter varient. I don't know how it is different from 600/- one.

So I somewhat agree to Mr Murthy’s Cable Break in period. I got 2 sets of IC’s from him and had been using it for more than 100 hours. During the course I did not make out any difference in the sound at all. I had marked both the pairs with numbers so that I know which set is being used. One of the days, I disconnected everything for cleaning and when I connected back one the IC’s got interchanged and I did not notice that. During my listening sessions felt there was something off on the overall sound signature and felt like the LF had taken a slight hit and also the HF roll off.
I removed everything reconnected and that’s when I noticed the pair mis match. Put the right cables together and voila, back to normal.
So his theory is true!
Not sure with the speaker cables through.

I ve heard this explanation from a lot of people many a times over the years.
I believe everyone should do whatever they feel is necessary to enjoy their system to the fullest.
For me there are other far more important qualitative aspects of the system that need to be looked into than cables so I dont weight in to much on them.
Coming back to his cables, I think they are well made cables that appear to be durable and 'should' not be a weak link in a system. That is what a cable should do in essence.

He sent me the cables first and I trusted his decision. Ones I told him that I am satisfied, he shared payment details with me. The Cable is around Rs. 600/meter and Banana Plugs about Rs. 450 each.

He mentioned me that it can take 50 hours break-in to see the potential of speaker cables

I had bought a pair of power cables from Mr Murthy for my amp and CD player as the used ones I purchased came sans power cables (previous owner was apparently using these with a ₹20k power cables and decided that I don't even deserve a cheaper replacement). Let me start off by saying that I am sceptical about impact of cables of any type.

But it was a relatively inexpensive experiment at 1800 bucks a pop so decided to give it a shot. I must say that I have pleasantly surprised as it cured a problem with this system that other FMs also attested to - slightly bloomy bass. I see a distinct difference in the overall quality of bass. It seems a little tighter and volume of bass has reduced as if a tone control of negative 3-4dB has been applied at mid-bass frequencies between 80Hz-150Hz. No discernable difference at other frequency ranges or aspects of presentation.. besides a slight buzzing in my left ear that a good doctor friend in the forum says is due to the onset of tinnitus and not 'cableitis'.

Finally, I would like to mention that acosutics is 99% inside your head and 1% outside. Psychological and psychosomatic aspects play a bigger role in enjoyment of music than actual acoustics. Even if it is merely a placebo effect, a small outlay of a few hundred of rupees for a cable is making me feel better about my system. More importantly, it is removing, albeit maybe not for ever, the incessant urge to spend a few lakhs more to upgrade my system. So that is money saved for now in my opinion and a big win for me! Happy Cabling!

Well articulated mate.
I reported the slight reduction in boominess of the bass when using the cord with amp.

Intrigued to know exactly what transition happens to the metal during those 100hrs of break in period.
Ever wanted to know why scotch whisky should be aged in oak barrels for at least three years? No body wants to verify the age that is imprinted on a scotch bottle and the aging is done up to a whopping 50 years! What happens to the whisky in the process spanning over half a decade is not questioned but we all accept it adds to the taste. Another interesting fact that we humanbeings not only get wiser with age, research suggests that in several ways we actually get smarter. Although in this case we know our age but how to quantify the change in intelligence as we age? Can anybody enlighten me and Yuvraj as to what happens to these stuffs Murthy's cords, Scotch and human beings with passage of time.

We actually grow senile as we grow older. The smartness vs time graph is actually a sine wave.

One scenario:

I suppose with passage of time and no physical damage to the integrity of the cables our perception of its performance will become colored with our diminishing hearing, tinnitus and other signs of aging.

After our passing our prized cables may become legacy objects for the next gen or dumped in some dark place to be rediscovered or thrown out for recycling which in the grand scheme of our universe is inevitable.

I am not aware of research showing we get smarter as we age. Unlike old whiskeys where older is rarer, more numbers our species is living longer than before (C19 is a leveler). Yes, there is the possibility that some of us may become wiser and over time not bother so much about cable upgrades and the returns from this given our age related decline.

.....meanwhile we will enjoy the music and indulge our curiosity about equipment, design, aesthetics, argue about audito quality and wonders about upgrading/downgrading and if we are lucky be transported to bliss, moved to tears or delight occasionally.

Guess what?

I got the Power Cord too and plugged it in my system just now.

Wow!!!

Sound is much crispier and accurate and also soundstage has improved. These are only early impressions.

I also feel that my headache has gone and the music feels more soothing. This might be due to improved soundstage and 3d sonics.

Bass/bass control has improved. It has made my Rega Brio sing more and now it is powering my 3050is even more beautifully than ever before. Bass is so smooth. It fills the air and I can literally see the sound while my mind rides the flashback horse skipping between realms.

I had a proper dance session brimming with happiness and joy.

This is an easy tweak to massively enhance your musical experience at just 2k. Big thumbs up to Murthy Ji for creating this and @SEANDSILVA for sharing.

Glad for you. Did you do an actual A/B test ie play the same track with the new and old cords few times ?
