Hi all,

Screenshots in the link below.

Sorry for the delay, I was busy moving into the new home. Lots of unfinished things.. wall mounting done last week, the HDMI cable broken etc.. it's all fine now. :)

I read reviews for more than a month, auditioned a lot of TVs.. did the Plasma vs LCD thingy etc.. I know it sounds cliched but we just have to buy what's pleasing to our eyes..

I chose LG 47 LD650 because it clearly showed more detail than the Sammy LCD (and the Sony was slightly over my budget.. the 46EX400 is not too great either.. ).. and I wanted a large screen.

I took some BDs and played them and did a comparison between the two (for maybe like 3 hours or so) and to me the LG showed more 'detail' than the Sammy.. Agreed it's black levels aren't too great... but I'm satisfied with it overall.

I still haven't calibrated my TV yet.. I have posted pics of my setup below. It's OK for DVD also. Did not hookup SD yet, so I don't know how it will look like.

Thoughts, comments welcome.. what you see in the picture are the TV, the Opp BDP-83 with analog out to the Onkyo TR-608 which is like 4 years old.

sd on tata sky looks [email protected] you please post the settings you are using...or is there any thrread in the forum for LD650 settings?...any help is appreciated...congrats and happy viewing..

i am also thinking of 42 inch, but is it better than c550/c650 or any sony
just PQ i want. sound , usb....i dont care of it

I bought for 75K .. when I bought i did not get any freebies.. I heard that LG company now gives free BluRay players on TVs with size 47 inches and above.

any reasons why you did not opt for LG LE 5500 42,costing 73k,its an LED
Is your TV the jazz series with 10 speakers?? and 100 tru motion hz??

Hi, I wanted a big screen (since at least a 46"+ will benefit from FullHD else 720p or 1080p don't matter much).

No my TV is not the Jazz series.. it's a newer model with decent 2 speakers.. already had a sound system so sound is not important to me... second thing is the 5500 has improper lighting.. it throws stray light (not very noticeable tho)..

Does it have audio return channel facility using hdmi cable.

want to know, how many hdmi ports are there in lg 47650. I am getting price of 78k with blue ray with 15 movies and airtel HD dth. please suggest

How is the SD viewing? DTH etc?

My observation.

I've been to demo the 32" recently and I saw lots of grains and disturbance in compressed video (DTH/Divx etc) playback. Uncompressed video had great quality (So is the transparent onscreen menu quality). Shadow detail was also good compared to samsung and sony in some cases as the ovreall picture tend to be bright.

Also, I felt the USB playback degraded from last year's (If my memory serves right). Viewing Divx through external player was better. Samsung did a good job via USB.

Hi Max, even I do like the 650 especially with the fact that their is only a difference of 3-4 k between 650 and 47ld460. Well even i am wanting 2 get this tv but their is 1 thing that is making me uncomfortable about 650 and it happens to be the usb playback feature. I have been 2 a couple of showrooms and tried playing some dvdrips. The ld460 played them flawlessly but ld650 had problems. The 650 was able to play the avi mkv mp4 but only to the extent of 700 mb 1GB rips. I have a AVATAR 2.2 gb dvdrip which plays perfectly on ld460 and even the Samsung 530 / 550 and all other samsung 2010 lineup.
But this AVATAR 2.2 gb dvd/bluray rip in MP4 format totally failed to play on the 650. Its another thing that the 650 was actually able to play the 700 mb MP4 another dvdrip. Maybe this is a filesize issue with the 650. Somehow this problem is totally out of proprotion with LG lcd's and plasma's as I have faced this problem with many other LG tvs. Till date only 47LD460 has been able to play most files I have tried on it.

Maybe I am getting too paranoid about this part but this is important to me as I do not intend on spending on a media player write now. Not purchasing a media player is not a budget issue but only a convenienece issue.

Max Can I ask why you did not consider the Sammy 46c530 / 46c550 ?
Almost everybody says that these are much better TV's than the LG's.

As for the LG 47ld460 their are only 2 hdmi ports. I have verified this from LG shop and even checked the lcd at shop for this. Even the website confirms their are only 2 hdmi ports.

Also that as per the website even the LD650 has got only 2 hdmi ports. Although I have not exactly checked this physically on the TV.

2 hdmi's is a bit of a deal breaker for me.

I had considered sammy also 46 c650 but panel issue was on my mind thats why i selected lg. how can I confirm that the panel in sammy is from samsung only and not cmo or auo panel. Another issue is price. I am getting sammy 46 of 98k and lg 47 for 78k with goodies. Is there much diffence in PQ for SD and HD contents b/w sammy and lg.:)

Max123_ind congrats, a nice buy.
I'm also going to purchase this TV very soon, just wanted to confirm about the number of HDMI ports. Are there 2 or 3?
