My experiment removing record wrap

Noticed that you are using a HMV-EMI Sonic Direct drive turntable. When I was a kid in standard 5 or 6, the EMI Sonic amp, speakers and turntable use to be something I used to admire whenever our school bus passed the shop. How is the performance. If possible, kindly post a picture. Thanks.

Sure.. Please find my HMV - EMI Sonic player.. In terms of performance, previously I had a Project Debut III and a Sansui SR-333. This player is much better than the Debut III and marginal better than SR-333. I sold my Project with an idea of bringing a Rega RP-3. After listen this HMV player I postponed my Rega plan.

EMI sonic is one of my beloved TT. Still with me (not working).

Hello Raghu..

What problem with your turn table. One known vendor from chennai having a EMI Sonic player with speed variation issue (always running with high speed)and willing to sell for spares. May be useful to fix your player. If intrested please write a message to me. I will give his contact number.

Best Regards,
Selvin.

The EMI Sonic player looks amazing and is in wonderful condition. It looks like a re-baged Japanese direct drive of the late 1970s. The EMI Sonic amp was the first Indian integrated amplifier to feature a graphic equalizer, back in the day.

Had the good fortune of meeting Selvin again in Ranchi while he was here for his project. Spent a beautiful evening together and I thank him for his time. Also, thank him for the LPs that he gifted to me:)

Spent the evening discussing music, lps, cassettes, decks, turntables & tuners apart from our personal lives over a coffee. Got to see detailed pictures of his Luxman tuner and Yamaha & Nakamichi cassette decks. What a lovely collection of equipment you have.

Hope to see him again soon.

Regards,
Saket
