My HT Journey so far and counting

Thanks. Yeah I used bic and moved to 10.17 having duals in mind. Due to space limitations I now moved to 12.17. Bass is tricky and we can’t judge based on showroom demos. For me till now the best bass I have heard in a show room was in Volumate Chennai on a dua bic f-12. After listening there only I became so addicted to bass. Key is the room acoustics and calibration. Herwin seems to be very good with calibrating his subwoofers. Coming to your question it depends on how deep you need? I used rew and the 12.17 goes low as 18 hz very comfortably. Seen a graph shared by another fm of a dual xtz 12.17 edge and it went low as 15hz. So if you want 5-10 hz deep bass xtz won’t satisfy you. But if you will be happy till 18 hz and 15 hz with a dual set up xtz is a good sub. One more thing in xtz is that the right port has to be closed for deep low performance.
how much u got XTZ 12.17 for? iam considering to go for a new SVS pb1000

So major changes happening. Expanding from 5.1.2 to a 5.2.4 set up. Today started cabling work and was able to install only one speaker box on top rear. Tomorrow most probably will complete installing the other box and also will complete the extension cabling work for placing a subwoofer in the rear.Next have to complete carpet work and also the motorised recliner is on the way, should arrive in 7-8 days. Here are some pics of the process. For now only box installation will be complete. Since the monoprice inceiling speaker I ordered is out of stock. To complete the carpet work and installing the recliner I insisted the dealer to complete the drilling and wiring work first

great setup man
Correct me if im wrong dont you think those fronts and centres are too close to the TV
Will the magnets/drivers in the speaker spoil the display?
Im trying to get a 5.1 setup my self hence asking you this question
thanks
Thanks.I don’t think magnets will affect modern displays. Been a year and haven’t faced any issues.

Carpet work completed, Motorised HT seat installed, Custom boxes installed and waiting for monoprice caliber inceiling speakers stock. Yahooo. Soon will be adding another subwoofer as well

Well major u turn with my HT journey and this post was my last update and it never progressed due to health conditions. I never had the courage to go through this thread even though i was active in the forum. When I finally went through this thread I was in tears knowing I may never have the same passion or time for HT. But I am in a much better place now and yesterday was the first time since dec 19 2020 I used my HT but only in 50-55 dB volume. Even though Tinitus did bother me at times I was able to enjoy the movie even at low volume and found some hope that with more rest and treatment my ears will heal. Few of you kept in touch and enquired about my well being genuinely and I am greatly thankful. Please do note that it genuinely helped. Now I am redoing my HT and planning to use it occasionally at low volume levels. I am redoing my HT to listen at low volume levels 50-55 dB compared to 75-80 master volume which was my normal listening levels but I am Love4sound and I don’t go small and I am going big hahahah. Adding another xtz 10.17, upgrading center from dali vokal to xtz 95.33 and for heights monoprice 8 inch inceiling speakers making my set up to a 5.2.4. I am planning to take a year break from HT so it’s been 4 months and with the constant hikes I just finished of my dream HT set up.

Hi Navin,

Congrats & take it easy with the volume level as nothing is more important than your health. The XTZ center is quite big compared to the Zensor vokal. Once it is setup do let us know how the center matches with the fronts. Take care & hope you recover fast..

Regards,
Nitin

Well I may not be the right person to give a performance review as 50-55db is very low and u miss a ton of details and also I am sure none here are going to watch something at that level. I won’t be also testing a lot like before and aiming perfection. Just run audysey and use at low volume levels occasionally. I won’t be using my HT like before.
