Hi Hifians..

I would like to showcase (oops, thats a big for any entry level person) my mini setup to you guys.

The components are: Speakers - Monitor Audio BR2, AVR Denon 1612, Front Cables - DAC 180, HDMI cable Belkin 3D High speed, Spike buster Belkin, DTH Airtel HD, TV Samsung LED 32 5000 series, Speaker stands Magma.

As someone said, Its just the first foot for any Hifians and a giant leap for myself.

My quest for ultimate had begun way back in 2000 where I use to listen to sharp all in one music system (the clarity of the audio cd & gramophone is yet to find in any other audio system) and then a sony hifi system of 1000 w RMS. The Sony had 6 speakers with dedicated amp for surrounds, but became dead after Naxalate cockroaches entered into speaker cabinet through air holes and ate entire diaphragm:sad:. I was literally disheartened & kept it aside (Now RIP). Last year I took my dream project out of dust & begun hunting.. Thanks to Profx & Denny of Bass and Treble, I ended up with MA & Denon :yahoo:. I was about to finalize the polk tsi300, Denny switched my mind to BR-2. When I played for the first time, I felt WHACK!!!. I was disappointed by comparing br-2 with polks.. because br-2 lacked the dhinchak dhinchak. Slowly, the doors were opening in front of me wherein understanding music, the way speaker performs, amps capability, audio input etc.. matters a lot. I am a fan of physics and it hardly took some time for me to learn. Now I thank Denny for such wonderful speakers in that budget. Though I think NAD or Marantz higher version can do wonder.. Denon is not that bad. Nowadays, i crawl in my room with a tape for measurement & acoustics (Mad of me), wondering how can it can sound better.

Impression :
High: Clean & crystal clear till 90%, after that little coloration
Mid: Outstanding
Low level : Very good in its class
Drawback: You will miss some minute details which can be heard in an earphone

Now Im in hunt for a sub which can be matched with BR-2. Finalized SVS, HSU & Sunfire.. in discussion with many dealers as well as the parent company directly to import to Singapore & then ship from there. Gurus guide me please with the best possible model & price.. Models are SVS PB 1000, SB-1000 & HSU VTF-3. My requirement is that the sub should blend properly instead of creating earthquakes. Recently I went to Bass & Treble for an audition wherein I tried SVS, Sunfire & Wharfedale 150. I never realized that there was a sub present while wharfedale was working hard. SVS is awesome for movies.. the missiles from transformers hit my ass directly (as sub was just behind ), sunfire created wonders in that size demo for HSU yet to take place.. friends.. please help.. venkat.. please pitch in.

Once again thanks to Denny & Prosenjit (Hifian in this forum) for their valuable guidance.

Congratulations! very clean setup.

Point : Please remove the dish box on AVR and mount it below the TV.

Congratulations- buy the center channel before the BR range is phased out of the market (its already categorized as "past products" on the Monitor Audio website). This will ensure that your fronts and center are of the same make and type. Add rear and sub later as per your convenience.
I had bought the M2s but finding it difficult to find the M Center since the M range was also phased out.

Thanks all...

@ Kittu: will buy rack asap, thanks your point well noted
@Amarendra: Truly said.. its phased out & little difficult to get.. how about RX series..?? any price idea?

Without sub, the entire setup is like Muted Jaguar. Please help out with best possible price... also hwz borderlinx.com?

thanks for compleiemt
dont worry about getting centre right now..
you can buy centre and front same....and make these as suroounds..
and get svs...you saw yourself what it can do..
btw are you getting DD logo in your avr now in HD channels..

@ Prosenjit: DD never appeared, no luck. It seems DTH pass on signal in PCM format only.. when i shift from analog to digital, the sound became muted. What to do..:(. Regarding Sub, who should experience sunfire.. mindblowing.. No space for SVS PB.. by the way howz SVS SB1000?

@ Rupam: Yeah its close.. slight boominess is there.. How to avoid it.. also m planning to use the original port seal to make sound tight.

Some tips for you,

To minimize the effects of standing waves, I recommend as a guideline the Rule of Odds. Measure the width of the front wall (the wall the front speakers are on) and the length of your room and divide any odd number (3,5,7,9 etc.).

For example, let's say your room is 144 inches wide by 192 inches long. Divide the room width by three and get 48". Now divide the room length by 3 and get 64". These calculations suggest placing the speakers 64 inches or 5'4", from the front wall, 48" from the side walls and 48" apart. For most people 5'4" is too far into the room and 48" is too close together to support a wide stereo image. Keep dividing your room dimensions by ever larger odd numbers until you come up with a placement that makes sense for you.

To continue my example, divide the length by 5 and you get 38.4", a more workable distance. Divide the width by 5 and get 28.8". So in this example a practical speaker placement that will yield good a result is 28.8" from each side wall and 38.4" from the front wall (see the figure above).

Always use the center of the woofer as your reference point. If you calculate that your speaker should be 3 feet from the side wall, measure 3 feet from the wall to the center of the woofer cone.

Avoid symmetrical placement. A speakers' distance from the front wall should not be within 33% of he distance from the side walls. For example if the speakers are 24" from the side walls, place them at least 32" from the front wall. In my example, I did not divide room length by 7 as that would have placed the speakers 27.5" from the front wall, too close to the 28.8" side-wall distance.

some very useful info!!!

Thank you rupam for your valuable input. However, this formula will not worke everytime. I tried to apply this formula in my 130*109 size room and sweet spot was at middle of door :(. I adjusted by keeping 20 inch from front wall and 11 inch from side. How's it?

DD never apperred..hmmm..try spdif out of airtel to denon spdif in....and try audio setting in DTH remote..DD via hdmi or DD via spdif..it should appear..

okay for space probelem ahy not you try svs cylindrical models..they are cheaper in fact..and svs used to mke cylidricals first..then they also started to make normla wala....so no question on cylindrical performance
