Hi my new turntable is here.

Its the Goldenote Bellavista Signature with the B7 Titanium Arm, the Boboli Signature cartridge and the Dumbo power supply.

I am trying out two phonostages. The Ray Samuels Nighthawk and the Goldenote Phono 2.

My initial impressions are its very musical. Unlike my Esoteric, its definitely voiced.

I got into vinyl mainly for Hindi film music. I am very happy with the way old songs sound on vinyl.

Compared to my Esoteric rig, the Goldenote vinyl rig is warmer and more musical. The Esoteric has better extremes and is way more accurate. On typical hifi parameters like staging, imaging, transparency etc, the Esoteric is decidely superior.

Congrats on your new TT ! Saw the pics of Goldenote on the net. wow ! Italians do things differently. Platter is placed on spacers probably to isolate from vibrations.
Enjoy :)

Hi Shaizada

At this point the Goldenote Phono 2 mates better with the table. The Nighthawk sounds clinical when compared with the the Phono 2. I feel the Phono 2 and the table are voiced to mate with each other.

Congrats Prem! And i'd agree with you, the Goldnote phono pre is matede with the TT that you have...

Will do Sidvee. Have also sold my Esoteric P70 D70. So my rack looks quite empty. Will go in for a single box cd player. Have not decided which one.

Thanks for the impression. See, in my setup, the Nighthawk just passes through whatever it gets fed upstream. My Clearaudio Accurate is a monster of a cartridge with detail but I felt the Nighthawk is very very smooth sounding with it. Never felt it was clinical as that would drive me nuts :)

Another thing I want to mention, the Nighthawk is built from the ground up to to do MC flawlessly well especially the low output kind. The 47k Moving Magnet setting is good, but the true MC section is where this bird really flies.

Hi Shaizada

In fact in the 6 moons review, the reviewer felt the Nighthawk really shines with a MM cartridge.

The Rethm is on the leaner side and it likes a lot of tonal density. The Esoteric cd rig while being neutral is tonally dense. The Nighthawk while it is neutral it does not have that tonal density. I guess the Esoteric Phono will probably work.
