NAS(Network Attached Storage) for Home theatre

Manny9-I have programmed my NAS to boot up at 6.15AM and shut down an 11PM every day.

You guys keep a seperate UPS just for NAS ?

Or you don't use a UPS ?

Or, is it connected to a common UPS for other equipments ?

I have a home inverter at this time, but plan to shift the NAS next week to a separate UPS which is dedicated for HT use.This is an APC 3KVA pure sine wave online unit connected to to the KEB line.

That's great. I am always confused on this because my HT runs for 3-4 hours a day (I have an APC 1100 VA UPS for that) and I want my (future) NAS to be ON 12 hours a day.

So, I guess, a separate UPS (just for the NAS) is the only option.

Guys, UPS is a must with NAS or can we live without it? I live in apartment and we have a generator backup but there is 3 min gap between the power shutdown till generator kicks in, was wondering if the sudden power cuts affect the NAS/HDD if they are in read/write operation...

It is desirable to use a NAS with a UPS to allow it to shut down properly. Critical when you are doing a software update.
