Hi friends, I am searching for an amplifier to my Spendor S8e floorstander. Amplifier's power output should be 300 watts/channel. Please suggest integrated as well as Pre & Power. The speaker's impedance is 8 Ohms and the sensitivity is 89 db. Bi-wirable , two way. I need an amp to hear the Low grunt at low volume in the late nght listening. Please share your ideas. Thank you.
Cheers,
sunder.

The Spendor S8e's sensitivity is 89db and the maximum power handling is 250Watts. If I go for Class A tube amp, the amp's power output should be what to drive the Spendor. Previously I used to connect the speakers with Arcam FMJ P1 monoblock powers which yielded 175 Watts each. But that was not sufficient to meet the speakers' potentialities. So I need a capable & smart amp. I pleasurably anticipating the members' idea.
Thank you,
Cheers

I havent heard these speakers so cant comment about synergy etc. From a power perspective, the Bryston pre-power combo on sale on the forum should be good enough.

Hi jai1611, the Bryston power amp provides only Single wiring to speakers.
Thank you.

You can always use a single to biwire cable

When I use as single wiring, I will connect my silver jumpers in the Speakers.
But I do have two set of VDH's Hybrid D-352 silver speaker cable. Mostly I like to listen via this VDH cables. I beleive that speakers breath comfotable by bi-wiring when there is a provision for.
Thank you.

The problem in using full biwiring in a single power amp is that the impedance tolerance of the amp falls. Amps which are 4ohm stable when using a single tarminal are only 8 ohm stable on A+B mode.

Given that you are revamping your setup, it may make sense to think of a biamping option. A lot of preamps have two pre-outs that can be used simultaneously. My deHavilland Mercury 2 has this (although I've never tried biamping with it)

Yes, certainly, bi-amping will be far superior to biwiring. The musical reproduction also will be more convincing. But higher wattage amps are much expensive to afford. What about Nu-force class D monoblocks? Will there be good synergy?

Hi Sunder, someone who I know here in mumbai has Audio Research ref 3 pre and ref 110 power as well as a Bryston 4BSST2 power. Visually I know that they are as good as new. In case you are interested PM me and I will introduce.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
