Hi all,

I have mentioned in many of my earlier posts where I have tried to upgrade from my 720p 12 year old Acer projector to 1080P projectors few years back and having failed to do that...now I want to upgrade to 4K directly. Looking at Indian prices of 1.25 lakh and above, have to resort to asking friends and relatives abroad to get me one. Luckily the past year or two I got nephews working in Europe who are willing to get me and I am seeing some decent black friday deals which may end today.

As for me - I am plug and play guy - Once I fix a projector..I just watch it..I dont tinker around settings much unless something is very wrong. In fact I am super impressed by my Acer - which I think is more than enough to watch movies. Given its old and have folks who can get me the latest..thought its time to pull the plug.

So for someone with such simple needs let me know if getting any of these are ok or whether one is way better - all in the 7-1000 EUR range - atleast for black friday.

For me a projector is a dumb projecting device..no smartness needed..no sound needed. It receives HDMI from my AVR and thats it.

All prices in EUR and are from Amazon NL or Germany. As EUR keeps falling, these are more affordable now. No need to beg USA friends and relatives :)

Optoma UHD35x Projector - 715 EUR in Ger and 799 in NL - so around 65-70K INR

ACER H6815BD DLP Projector (4K UHD - 775 - around 70k

Acer H6830BD DLP Projector (4K UHD - 799

Acer H6816ATV Android TV DLP Projector (4K UHD - 799

Xgimi Horizon pro 4K is 999 - still way cheaper than Indian prices..but seems bulky and may have issues with Customs due to higher price.

BenQ TK700 4K Gaming - 950..can afford but worries about customs

Tried to find professional reviews..but very few and far between. Optoma seems the best deal. CNET likes it. Dont mind Acer given my existing Acer has impressed me a lot. so may be it comes to repairability in India that will clinch the deal

As always many thanks in advance for all your help and hoping a day will come soon when we can buy these in India only at reasonable prices

I was in a similar boat recently and went with Benq TK850i as the deal was too hard (61K inr) to pass up, but I had initially zeroed in on TK710 after searching, reading and watching reviews for countless hours.

I would have still got it but it was not in stock at the time of my purchase and I wasn't ready to wait. It has laser as the light source instead of traditional bulb and thus has longer expected age and brighter picture/more luminance. It is also a 2024 launch compared to some of these models which are few years older now.

Coming back to the models you listen, I am not familiar with Acer but I read plenty on reddit that Optoma has dropped in QC and many people are facing issues just as the warranty period gets over or even before that. Could be planned obsolescence, could be something else, but I advise you to read up on reddit more about this.

For reviews on other models, https://www.projectorcentral.com is a good starting source. You can also post this query on https://www.reddit.com/r/projectors/ and might get more experienced answers.
