need help in buying a tv above 46 inches

Hi guys,
I need your suggestions in buying a new TV.
My preferences are,
-The TV should be big preferably more than 50 inches
-It should be a HDTV
I am not interested in Internet or 3D content,although I may see occassional
DVds or play some games.
Most of the time I will see English movies or games and I want to upgrade to AIRTEL HD.I did some research and saw some demo pieces.My budget is around 1 lakh.As I found out there are no LCD Tvs above 50 inches in size.Only there are LED Tvs in 55inches size.Both Sony and Samsung are in the 1,30,000 price range.Plasma Tvs are rarely seen in showrooms and I could not find a plasma Tv 50inches in size even in panasonic showroom.
I can stretch my budget upto 1,20,000 but is it worth buying Sony or Samsung 55 inches LED? My another important consideration is Piece of mind after buying this Tv so there should be no problems.
The latest price I got for Sony 46 inch LED was 73,000, and for 55 inch Led was 1,27,500.Is it the correct price? Please suggest. Thank u

Sony 46Hx925 is MRP Rs 153,900 /-* (sony.co.in) or Sony 46D8000 (1.7L) is good choice AFAIK. But If you get good dealer, you can get for good price.

If your hall/viewing room is not bright, Plasma is good option, panasonic 50VT20/V20 ,
Samsung 51D550(suggesting by reviews from this forum) - which should not cost more than 75K.

Where do you live? Recently I check out some stores in Hyderabad, AP and I found quite a few stores having Plasma models. Infact most of them had. If you visit multiple electronic store you will get an idea what the price would be.

If the primary feature you are looking for is big size better go for Sony and then Samsung.

With regards to peace of mind well if you have really bad luck even the most reputed brand may have an issue with their set unless you go for the lower end brands. I should say Sony and Samsung should not have issues but I can't assure you that 100%.

I live near Guntur in A.P.As I wrote earlier I cant see much models in Guntur,thats why I am going to Vijayawada tomorrow to see more TV models.
What about LG 55LV3730 ? Is it in the same class as Samsung and Sony ?

your budget is good..........my choice would be panasonic 50ST30, an amazing tv!!! However feel free to demo other tv's also and then decide. Remember, if plasma then always demo the tv with low ambient lighting. Bright light will kill plasma.

Hi guys,
I went to showrooms in Vijayawada,and I am quite impressed with Samsung Led TVs.Till now I havent seen Samsung LED TVs.The best offer I got on Samsung 55UND8000 series was 1,90,000 plus free LCD 22 inches and 4 pairs of 3D glasses.Is it a fair price? And the offer I got on Sony 55ex720 was 1,27,500.What about Samsung UND8000? Is it worth the price? Or shall I wait for another 15 days for the prices to drop? Please suggest.Thank you.

I would say Sony 46Hx925 + 1 projector will be very nice instead of samsung 55D8000

After all these days I took a hasty decision of buying Samsung UA55D8000.We loved the Design of the Tv,especially my wife.And the offer looked good,1,80,000 without the LCD tv .Ofcourse the dealer agreed to give 4 pairs of 3d glasses.We gave advance today and will be bringing the TV by the end of the month.Basically because of the looks we bought this TV.

Congrats rahappa. Sorry I coudn't follow up on your thread so couldn't post much after wards. Why do you say hasty decision? You are not happy about the decision?
