Hi! I know that TV buying advice is most commonly sought on this forum and I went through quite a few threads which has helped. However, I still need some expert advice based on my specific needs:

Viewing conditions:

Room size is 10 ft x 11 ft. Viewing distance ranges from 5 ft to 9 ft.

The window in the room is on the exactly opposite wall where the TV will be wall mounted. So reflective screens (plasma) should possibly be ruled out.

Other personal considerations:

Prefer LED - Given the location where the TV will be wall-mounted, I would like the slimmest possible model so that it is not an eye sore. Also, we have frequent power cuts thus have to depend on the inverter for 50% of our viewing time. Low power consumption is important.

32' - 42' - I would like an immersive viewing experience but at the same time do not want the picture to look very grainy (mostly view Airtel SD channels)

Sound - Given the the small size of my room, prefer a TV with reasonably good sound quality so that I am not forced to add a separate set of external speakers/HTS.

Budget - Would prefer to stay below Rs. 50k, but am not rigid about this since an HDTV is not something that I am going to buy every year.

Frills - Not really interested in surfing the internet using the TV. But may get an IPTV connection in the future.

3D - Don't really need 3D, but if it comes with the model chosen with the above considerations, do not mind having it either.

Bias for Samsung - Given my excellent experience with all Samsung products in the past, especially in after sales support when required, I tend to prefer their products.

Bias against LG - Given my very poor experience with all products bought from LG both in terms of quality and after sales support, I would stay away from LG.

Could anyone please guide me in narrowing down on the models based on the above considerations?
Additionally, would like to know if there are any models available with SPVA panels and Local Dimming in India.

Thanks.

You can easily get a 40" D5000 or D5500 within your budget if bought in the grey market.
Otherwise settle for a 40D550.

If you want a SPVA they go with the CX520 or EX520 in grey market both are above your budget if bought in showroom.

So Samsung is not using SPVA panels? Is SPVA such a big deal? I do require clarity when watching TV from an angle.

Samsung do use SPVA panels but chances of getting them in series 5 lcd or led-lcd are rare.
Series 6600 and above you will likely find a SPVA panel.

As far as the viewing angle ,its best to check them in showroom and see if its adequate.
