Need help in selecting Speakers for Denon1612

Sonodyne Front and Center will cost around 17K only. See hifimart.com

How's SQ compared with wharfe, polk audio, tannoy etc? I liked the SQ of Denon 1312xp compared to Yamaha296 & onkyo 3500.so plz guide me on the simillar pattern. Preference is 60% movies and rest is music.

I'm on the same boat. Looking for a replacement of Denon 1312xp if possible within 40k.
I don't want Sonodyne Speakers.

It seems that in that budget, I will only get 5.1 speaker package like :
Boston Acoustics Soundware XS ---24,000.00
Wharfedale Moviestar MS-100 HCP, ---- 33,000.00
Wharfedale Moviestar 65+ ------ 28,000.00
Wharfedale Moviestar 70+ ---------- 35,000.00
Polk Blackstone TL1600 ------ 35000.00
Tannoy HTS101---------------- ?
Jamo A 102 HCS 6 ------------ ?
Paradigm-CINEMA 70CT ----- 29,584

If you can give me a separates speaker configuration within 30 k It will be helpful.
Thanks

I have never auditioned this combo, but as per another forum member 'Manu George' the Sonodyne + Denon 1612 combo is excellent and even better than similarly priced Wharf or Polk combo. Take a demo and decide.

I am planning to take my 1612 along for demo but the local dealer here has speakers of Yamaha, Tannoy, Boston Acoustics, polk audio & Klipsch which is in the range between 16-30k for fronts only. He does not have Sonodyne. I think I shall better ask hifimart guys if they can help me out about sonodyne+denon combo. It's damn frustrating when you have AVR in your hand but can't use it as I have not yet connected it even to my Sony speakers.

Hi Guys,

Yesterday I auditioned following speakers with Denon 1612. Since I am not too much into technical and acoustics, I am jotting down the findings in my own language as below:

1.Tannoy F1BS: sounded quite bright simmilar to Yamahas. Although the sound was crystal clear but bass was not too heavy. You definitely need a SW if one plan to go with this BS.
2.Boston Acoustics MS8000 5.1 package: Sounded good and jelled very well with 1612. Only problem is that when I asked the salesman to put the song to stereo, SW effect suddenly disappeared( he was earlier playing the song with DTS-HD MA, song-Ishq sufiyana from the dirty picture) I don't know why this happened as it alsmost minimised to half.
3. Thirdly he told me about another discontinued package of Boston Acoustics(do not know the model name) but it was all small shaped BS, little bigger than satellites with downfiring SW. He said since it is discontinued he would give me heavy discount on the item and quoted me a price of Rs.45K (original MRP 60k) Although I could not get the demo as it would have took time since cabling was not done.

i am not an expert but read everywhere centre and fronts at leats should be of same series for tonal match...so consider it

Yes prosenjit people do say that and that is why I bought Aviano 2 BS (18K Pair) for my side surrounds in my 7.1 setup. But after that went from cheap Yamaha NSP 8900 BS + Centrer for 5K which I am using for 7.1 rear surrounds. Trust me after using for 1.5 years I think even if I had gone for cheaper satellites then also it would not have made any perceptible difference which I have also not noticed with movies having good surround effects, i tried by forcefully not playing rear and side surrounds one at a time.

Yes but I do agree that with the side surrounds having bass reflex and closer to ear, certain bassy effects are produced better in Aviano 2 than Yamaha but someone cannot make that differece unless hears A/B

Have you tried the pioneer bs41? Given that you found some BS short on bass effects, I think you would like them. See if you can audition them. They are also cheaper than other speakers you have tried.

@Rupam, I am considering TL1600,it appeals to me as a very good and impressive package. But I can not audition it since it's not available at local profx dealer. He says can order and he'll get that with 10% disc. Dealer said that polk audio will sound quite bright like Yamaha. And he was trying to push me his old 5.1 speakers of Mission with front as FS. He said mission would go very well with Denon. He said even wharfe is quite bright.

@ Nishant06, what is the price of BS41 and from where can I source it?

@dosai

Thanks for your concern. No I have not got the speakers as of yet. In fact I have changed my mind. I am now going for Yamaha 473 and a sub(under 15K). I'll continue using my old sony speakers for time being and shall upgrade them in future.

I am selling my old AVR Denon 1612 which was bought only few days back.

Hi,

I think Denon 1612 is a good avr, why you are selling it without even using it.

are you able to get good price.

Regards, Amit

@AmitKumar....I guess I answered you in PM. Please check it.

I think upgraditis bug bit me quite fast. I liked the musical qualities of Yamaha 473 and quickly changed my mind.

Hi bpranay, have you auditioned the Jamo S426 HCS3 Home Theater Package? It contains 2 Floorstanders, 1 center and 2 surrounds.

I have heard them at Reliance Digital with Yamaha 373 and its sounds very good. You don't need a separate sub-woofer for this package, since the bass is quite good. It priced at 21K at Reliance Digital and they are ready to give it for 19K, its a steal.

So, please take a audition of this speakers.

@Jaivelu

Unfortunately I have not had a chance to audition Jamo S426 HT. Because we don't have Reliance Digital in Chandigarh :( and it's not available with rest of the dealers.

If it sounds great with Yamaha 373 then it should sound superbly with Yamaha 473 and it's good thing that you don't need a sub with this as I was planning only for sub under 15K and if i am getting 5 speakers set by adding 4K then I would be having complete system. Also i heard there's a feature in Yamaha 473 that you can send sub frequencies to front L & R.

I am going to delhi in first week of feb so then I would purchase both Yamaha 473 & Jamo S426 after auditioning.

yeah, It's a steal deal :)
