saw this post just today,
my take:
1) descends rather quickly more like a drop - the lift mechanism dampening is out, needs a look through, You will have to completely remove the tonearm's lift mechanism dampening piston to properly coat it with damping fluid. It has grooves in it which must be packed with fluid. Once you have this done, the drop will be damped and will be gradual. This is better done by a Technician if you are not familiar with TT mechanicals.
2) when the record plays the tone arm moves backand front and gets of the record - honestly this is not very clear but I assume your tone arm hops on the record surface, gets to the end of the record and returns. If this is the case, its got to be tracking, worn stylus, clogged stylus, clogged record grooves or faulty sensors on your deck. If the case is the same with different records, then you can rule out the clogged record groove angle.
If you really meant that your tone arm lifts up automatically, and moves back towards base, and off the record, then its got to be the sensors. Your TT is one of those sensor driven Technics Automatics. If the sensors are clogged with dust or have failed, this can happen. It can also be that the levers below the surface, guiding your tonearm are out of alignment.
3) In manual mode when I place the tone arm over the lead in groove the record plays okay but as the song progresses the stylus gets stuck repeats same part of the music - again, this is incomplete info. Does this happen on different records. If yes, then its got to be a completely screwed up tone arm mechanism or the sensors not working.

Hi FM's,
Need your help on guidance on rectifying the issues faced with my newly accquired Technics TT thanks to FM Hemant who was kind enough to source this for me, and which I will use along with my Sonodyne TT till I get the SLK 200 MK II...
Issues
1. In automatic mode the tone arm is supposed to move to the lead in groove and decend slowly on the record and record starts playing...The issue I am facing is that the tone arm moves to the begining of the lead in groove and descends rather quickly more like a drop and when the record plays the tone arm moves backand front and gets of the record.
2. In manual mode when I place the tone arm over the lead in groove the record plays okay but as the song progresses the stylus gets stuck repeats same part of the music....
With my limited experience I didnt try much but I did try all that was mentioned in the manual however the issues persist
Calling all the experts to help me out ... thanks in advance
