Toshiba is not a good choice. It has slipped in quality over the years. 2010 should see them making a come back but prices are going to sky high (I suppose).
It's easy to get excited and jump for a purchase right away. I would wait for the Samsung 2010 models to be available. The Plasma C550 series should be a cracker. If not, then Samsung PS50B550 is the best for you for now. Best price is ~69,000 in Mumbai.
With you viewing distance go for 46", 47", 50 ". Other choices would be:
Samsung LN46B550 ~71,000
Samsung LN46B650 ~88,000
Don't go by the prices quoted in showrooms. Bargain since they are keen to clear stocks and make way for 2010 models.
LG 2009 Plasma models have image rentention problems. So does the Samsung B450. Try and stay away fom them.
