Hi friend need your suggestion for integrated amplifier

journey started with 7.1 avr but love the sound of intg. amp
now want to go with stereo setup
my budget is 50k for amp
what are the best option in this budget
for speaker I want to go for wharf 10.7 or rti a7 /monitor 9
whic amp will drive these speaker with comfort

NAD C356, Arcam A18 for RTiA7 & Paradigm Monitor 9. Marantz PM7003, Cambridge Audio 740A for Wharfedale 10.7.

Generally to get the best result out of any speakers it is better to avoid under powered amplifiers. (Under powered than the speaker specifications). The best combo for the Wharf 10.7 would be the NAD C375BEE. In terms of wattage both of them will be a perfect match. Short term wattage of 10.7s is 200 @ 6 ohms (approx 150 @ 8 ohms). The NAD C375BEE is 150 @ 8 per channel. This amp would have a good control over the speakers even at very high volume levels especially on the lower frequencies (bass). Overall the sound signature of this combo would be laid-back/warmth/easy listening. Cheers.

Hey hifipal,

There seem to be two conflicting thoughts.. One saying the cost of the amp should be alsmost same as the speakers.. Other suggesting the w/ch rating should match the speaker..

A 150 w/ch amp will never be available for the price an 150w/ch speaker is available as I understand.. :( (Eg the 10.6).

Which of the above is correct then?

Hi Blasto,

In my opinion both are correct.

keeping in mind "Quality does not comes cheap"

The First View gives a rationale for allocating a budget to an Individual Item in the chain, while planning for a system.
The second one is completely a Technical issue. Technically matching.

You need to match the both while planning for a system.

In normal listening session no one listens to more than 1 watt (speaker Sensitivity >= 86db). We need 150 watts or even 300 watts to accomodate the peaks only which lasts for a few milliseconds but is capable to damage the system if not properly matched.
The type of Music one listens to, determines the amount of Dynamic Headroom required.

Hope it helps.:)
