I need to know which BR player to get:

I dont need networking or any other frills since I have a media player which takes care of all that unless one has some unearthly feature which a media player would not have....
I dont need 3D as well as 2D is all i would ever watch at home.

The only thing that matters to me would be:
  1. Picture quality
  2. Sound quality
  3. Ability to play multiple regions

All advice appreciated.

Thanks

The only multi region BR player available in India is Onida BDX 1110. Other BD players with multi region are sherwood bdp 5004, Kaiboer 750Li, etc.

So you dont need 3D, but need sound clarity and good PQ, then go for some old models like Pana BD80 which have superior audio clarity for playing audio CD's too( leave apart the HD audio) and in the market region free kit were available. Just put some request in the wanted section, some members here may be willing to sell if they have.

If not go for Old oppo-80 + region free kit.

Regards

Well wont be playing audio cds on it.. HD audio yes would need good quality audio...
Just one question do the new 3D players have superior 2D PQ as well than the older models ?

Yep everything they have the same aspects.:) I have tried and used from BD60 / Oppo 80 / sony BDP-x2 / and now BD-6800 everything is good in all aspects. Most differs only in loading time except Oppo.

In media player Popcorn is an different brand and typically in BD section Oppo is separate and no use of comparing with other brands.

So am i correct in assuming that PQ of most BR players ( regardless of brand ) would be similar in 2D. So investing on a newer model would not really make sense if one doesn't want the gizmos.

Generally newer models are cheaper than older models:D

so im guessing any Panny player in 10k range should do the trick..
PQ (2D) of a 30K player and 10k player would be similar? am i correct?

I've paid Rs. 43123/- for my Oppo BDP-93 thru 20north.com and the performance of the player is "OUTSTANDING !!!" Oppo is Oppo !!! :yahoo: ... plays anything !! Now I've to copy all of my media to my Qnap TS112 NAS.

Does it play"Chappati" ?:D. Just for joke quoting an adv earlier issued by Onida for DVD player and it throws any scratched stuff.

Becoz Onida players are suitable for playing chapatis only :ohyeah: ... not BD/DVD. Any BD player plays BD .. but you get best of the best picture quality in OPPO !!!

im currently using a borrowed WDTV Live. I think it has internet radio.. Havn't tried it to be honest . Has quite a few internet media options. Just used YouTube as of now. Not sure if the others work in India . I know Pandora doesnt.
Currently its the cheapest media player ( abt 5.5k) . Ive yet to find a reason to get a more expensive one.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
