Hi All,

I have recently seen this amplifier . It can fullfill my needs however I need some reviews on this.

Has any body listened to this OR owned this amplifier?

I have heard and read that Mr. Shyam Bajaj have been creating hand manufactured amplifiers and I specially like discreet amplifiers.

I have woodstock speakers with 12 inch woofers. Earlier I had woodstock amplifier.

Now looking for a pre + power specially hancrafted amplifiers, as I love and respect this art.

Thank you to all.

I'm sure the new norge pre + power combo will be just the right setup for you. If you can get a demo in delhi go for it. Its an awesome combo!

I don't know about power, but I recently received my Norge preamp. The sound was quite good but the volume dial had major issues. It was loose and poorly controlable. The left and right channles were not well balanced, left channel being clearly louder. Had to send it back immediately for rectifying the issues. Lets see how it performs after coming back.

I saw the photos of Norge 1200.
No doubt the looks are cheap,

If I talk about norge 1000 that is a good amp but cannot play bassy songs for couple of hours due to small heat sinks, what I have come to know. Either it should have a bigger heat sink or should have some kind of coolig system inside.

Let me add my views.I found sound very warm when connected this combo to Norge Towers. There was hardly any treble. One should try pairing this combo to Bright speakers.
even other FM had similar views & need to change Bass/Treble settings.

Audition of Paradigm Studio 100 speakers

Hi Sean,

Today I visited gemini traders for the audition in connaught place delhi.

I went there for the audition for Pradigm studio 100 speakers. I got the audition for B&W and Paradigm speakers with Rotel 1550 amplifier.

B&W speakers- approx 60k
Paradigm studio 100-- 1.9 lakh
Rotel 1550 --1.45 lakh

I visited there to see the performance of high end amplifiers and speakers because before this audition I had only read the lots of positive reviews about these highend products.

I personally have woodstock speakers and amplifiers and amp had stopped working. So I was looking for a good amplifier.

So the audition started and I sat on a chair. First it started with B&W speakers and that was with some instrumental music.

I told the person to increase some bass level and I met with the first SHOCK.
He told me that the bass can not be increased as it is inbuit and fixed level and can not be increased.

it was ridicolous for me that an amplifier costing 1.45 lakh does not have bass level even to change.

Another bad thing was the amplifier had inbuilt cd player and the process of inserting the cd was really a hell. There was no cd tray to come out, just a wide slot of allmost the same size of cd in which cd goes.

If some how the cd gets stuck inside there is no option to take that out until you open the complete unit. HIGHLY PATHETIC.

B&W speakers were nothing more than ordinary sound. Nothing pleasing was there and nothing was there which will force you to spend a hell lot of hard earned money.

ThenI told the person to change the speakers to Paradigm STUDIO100, one of the highly reputed and VERY HIGH END, MADE IN USA BRAND.

I thought by changing to such a high end speakers will definately give me the whole new extraordinary experience .

Again the person played some songs and nothing was more than a little better. Again a BIG SHOCK I met with. I told him to change the song as he kept on saying that sound may depend on the type of songs. But nothing changed. Then the right channel of the speaker started pruducing harsh sounds like khar khar. Right channel was badly sounding since the begining on low volumes and when the person raised the volume, harshness became more clear. I told him to change with a hindi song cd--JISM and the song was- Jaadu hai nasha hai. The person only kept on raising the volume till 63 or 65 and believe me there was nothing for what one would give lakhs of money.

May God keep the people away from these highend syatems.

Person was also observing all the harsh sounds since the begining and after few minutes he stood up and started checking the right channel by himself.

I did not tell him that I have been observing that since beginning.

He removed the cd cover from the top of the speaker , then removed the remote however all these activities never imapct the speakers performance.

Then he started gripping one of the speakers of right channel but nothing happened.

Afterfew minutes of the shocking audition I told him to stop the songs because I was highly dissapointed with the performance of the amp and speakers.

Even an audio costing 30000- 50000 rs can perform far better and can produce smooth and pleasing sound and fill the room with lot of satisfaction.

I am telling you all that I still have woodstock speakers and sounds beyond the imagination. Even I do not have the words to describe the listening experience in my room. It satisfies the thirst of the ears.Bass is so deep , so hefty and silent, strong and punchy, that the attack of the bass could be felt from 10 feet long distance.

I am very lucky that I have those speakers and not this above mentioned high end crap.

In B&W and Paradigm , if there was something exceptional and outstanding in comparison with normal and ordinary,--- IT WAS THE PRICE and nothing else.

On low volume both the speakers and Rotel amplifier sounded like big crap and a garbage.

Today I came out lot of illusions of all these HIGHEND and MADE IN USA kind of things which have been INTENTIONALLY THROWN ON THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE GOT LOT OF MONEY IN THEIR POCKETS and are far away from the reality.

Hmm, Interesting findings. I have personally never heard the gear you mentioned but I have heard a system of Marantz CD6003, PM 6003 and Paradigm studio 20. The speakers look small (are smallish bookshelves) but the sound was absolutely AMAZING. If I gather money and if I get bored of my open baffles, Studio 20 will be my choice. I don't know how studio 30 and 40 sound but I would definitely like to do audition.

One advice, when you go for audition, go with open mind and prejudice. Evaluate the gear as per sound without taking into account the price quoted.

Hi Jaudere,

Since a long had been looking for an amplifier for my woodstock speakers and I thought what kind of exceptional sound highend speakers would be producing and I came to came to know that even after spending whole lot of money you will need to have seperate sub woofers . So in all, system will cost u approx 2.5 lakh only for the speakers.

I am far better with my woodstock, had purchased for 18 k with a 12 inch woofer in each column.

I need not not go for any seperate sub.

Just looking for a fine amplifier.

Somebody suggested me to go for vintage amplifier for 50k and one for 37k.

What do you say about amplifier.

I think nobody is willing t provide good and long lasting product in right prices.

And if somebody provides that, will ask for a hell ,so that u may have to sell your belongings.

interesting experience Vikas! :D

hope the future has something for you!

Hi Sean,

Do you really think that somebody should go for vintage amps? If something goes wrong ,no service or parts I would be able to find. and I do not know in which condition they are and how much of their life remains.

No body would be able to repair that and no parts would be available of course.

Its the same for a brand new 'foreign' amp as well! At some point its your call.... Also depends a lot on the reputation of the dealer selling the gear .

Sean, as you have seen the amps at Farhans house, what do you say? Are they in good condition? Are they used or new in condition?

Please check out Marantz pm 6004/7004. I love Marantz. Nad is also good. c356BEE is worth a try. These will cost you 50k or less. Secondly, since you are in Delhi, try out Viren Bakshi's tube amps. Don't go by rated power. They can go adeqautely loud (but not loud enough for parties probably). Viren is a member here.

Vikas,

Some manufacturers are making huge profits under the banner of high end audio these days, you just tasted one of their recipes .:D
