Hi..i am new to this av field..i know about recievers and home theaters only from net. As of now i have an old sony hifi music system 8/10 yrs old and a sony 49inch full hd hdr tv. i am planning to buy a budget reciever and a subwoofer and later upgrade from there on. I am planning to use my hifi system speakers as front channel since they are of 6 ohms and use as 2.1. My budget for reciever is anything less than 40k. Can any one suggest a reciever around that price. And should i buy it online or from a shop since i am completely novice. Pioneer vsx531 is the one that is in my mind. Any one has any alternative suggestion..? my use would be 70% movies and 30% music. thanks in advance :)

Good to re-use speakers from your hi-fi system..

You can get a Pioneer VSX 330 - https://www.hifimart.com/pioneer-vsx-330-av-receiver.html?search=pioneer&description=true & a sub-woofer in that budget - https://www.hifimart.com/taga-harmony-tsw-90-v-3-active-subwoofer.html?search=Taga&description=true

Online would be best, as you get doorstep delivery and a lower prices than the physical stores..

Without auditioning, you aren't missing anything..

Check store to enquire any good deals on outgoing models.. Compare price & features and pick an AVR..

You may also consider used AVR from FM here (in your city), as you would a good & a genuine one in working condition with excellent features, which you may not get with entry level AVR..

Thank u for your suggestion. Vsx330 has almost all features i need..Except for an hdr support..I dont know wheter it ll be useful at all. I decided to buy online without audition. I am little sceptical about buying used ones due to my previous experiences in buying used phones. But in my budget i think i ll get only an entry level new one. So i ll check used ones too.

For a 15 ~ 20K budget, you can pretty much get a good midrange used 7.1 AVR..

Open a 'wanted' thread under classifieds section of the forum, mentioning your budget and the city you live in.. You should get atleast few responses..

Drop in to FM place, check it thoroughly (demo) and make the decision based on working condition..

As suggested above, a good quality used AVR is your way to go. There are plenty of AVRs on sale in our forum. Budget should be within what you quoted. One more thing, NEVER buy without listening. Sometimes on listening something crops up which one does not like!

Thank you..I am from Kerala Cochin..I ll check the forums and see if anything matches my budget and preferences
