Hi All,

After a long wait, i am in a process of building a dedicated HT room.

Dimensions:
22'(l) X 12'(W)

The room is in construction phase, currently laying out electrical pipes in walls, So currently concentrating on laying the pipes.Pipes laid for for rear and surround speakers

Pipes already embedded in Roof to accommodate separate power source for Projector, HDMI, component video, to roof mount projector.

Goal.
1. Option for 7.1 Ch Speakers, Speakers will be DIY, based on Peerless Drivers.
2. Denon AVR ( Based on a audition at a friends place)
3. Screen size to be 120 inches, Projector - Not decided yet.
4. Damping.

currently i do not own any of the above hardware, so open for suggestions.

A few confusions that i am having.
1.Where to keep all the AV gear ? on the front in/on a cabinet which is less than 18 to 20 inches tall ?
2.If we keep all the AV gear, and a supposed height of the rack to be 20 inches, we should be placing the screen around 24 inched from the ground. Is this fine ?

i will be updating this first post as i progress. Will be adding pictures coming week.

Hi All,

Here are the progress pics.

The width of the area towards the Front where the screen will be is 14 Feet, the Electrical Conduicts are designed to support 7.1 Ch audio.

Can anyone recommend the gauge and availability of the speaker cables required for Surround speakers (Rear and Rear surround) These speakers have concealed wiring , Hence want to have good quality cables.

Rear and Rear Surrounds will be Two-Way Book Shelf speakers

Front and Center speakers will have exposed wires, Hence these can be done during installation of AV gear.

Regards
Harsha

You will need a good carpet then to avoid reflections.
Have you auditioned systems?Budget?
Room size is bigger ,so need a powerful amp.

Hi Spirovious,

Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes Carpet will be added,

I have not yet auditioned any stuff yet, Only some combos in Friends place, Currently only concentrating on the Basic stuff such as Conduict wiring etc.

Since the rear speakers are concealed, it will be troublesome to get it wired separately, So the current task in hand is to wire the speaker cables and the signal cables for Projector.

Budget for Projector will be around 40k .
Screen will be Fixed one. budget upto 10k for screen material.(Not including frame, labor )
I do not intend to have many AV sources, Only source will be a HTPC
So still choosing between the below two options
1 . A good Soundcard installed in HTPC which has 7.1 ch analog out, which will then be amplified using external Amplifier.
With this option i will lose all the stuff like Room Correction and all the fancy stuff which are offered by current gen AVR.( I am not sure if these options are available in soundcards)
or
2 . AVR which can support 7.1 ch audio. with same HTPC as source.

If you will use HTPC as source then there will be HDMI out.So your AVR will accept sound from it and processes accordingly. It will be the easiest way.

If you add a soundcard, then you need a 7 ch poweramp. Again setting it will be a tough job.

Currently you can try demo of different AVRs like Denon,Marantz,Yamaha etc. They do not have similar sound signature. So check which will you like.
Time being use thick wires (14awg min)for surrounds.
For projector,I am using MX HDMI 2.0 cable which supports 4K and is 15mtr.I got it for Rs.3500 around.

Hi All,

There has been some progress, got Acer H5380BD projector and Liberty 3ft projector mount.

For acoustic treatment, have procured glass wool slabs so that the reflection points can be tamed, each slab is 2ft X 3ft 2 inch thick.

Made plywood frame to enclose these slabs, each frame will hold 2 slabs , so glass wool thickness will be 4 inches and i plan to provide 1.5 inch air gap between panel's and wall. Pending are bass traps.

The glass wool slabs will be wrapped with 2 layers of tissue and then a cloth layer.

Currently procuring the screen, Since it is a dedicated room plan is to go with a Fixed frame screen.

When hunting for screen materials got these two options, Please let me know if this is a good option, my budget for Screen Material is 8K, (120" diagonal)

10 FT X 6 FT Imported Matt White High Gain Fabric FOR Masking Framing Purpose | eBay

9 FT X 5 FT MAP Type 16 9 Cineline Brand Projector Screen Imported Fabric | eBay

Also if there are any local source in bangalore, Please share the contact/location.
