I've zeroed in on two televisions, at a relatively low budget (i do not need 3D).

The first is the Hitachi 55 inch LED X04A for 1,00,000.

The second is the LG 60 inch Plasma PV250 for 92,000.

I am also considering a Sharp 60 inch LED 630M for 1,75,000.

Any thoughts or opinions on the above, I'd much prefer to keep my budget to under a lakh, as I would like to buy a second set once the new 2012 models are out.

Thanks in advance.

  • Panasonic 50 Inches Full HD 3D Plasma TH-P50UT30D Television (Rs.85,320/- )
  • Panasonic Viera 50 Inches 3D Full HD Plasma TH-P50VT20 Television (Rs. 1,33,720/- )

In chennai Sony 55" EX 720 3D LED with 2 3D glass free Grey market price is 1,05000/= brand new box packed piece. If you want I can organise some thing but you have to work out the modalities for shipment.

LG here in chennai showroom price is 90K so if you are deciding on LG then negotiate the price.

hello varun ! a bit off-topic, but aren't you the same person who had purchased a samsung 64D8000 sometime back and reported severe peeling issues with the TV's filter ? pardon me if you are not that gentleman.

@rbalagopalan thanks for the offer but difficult to buy grey from chennai where i will not know where the dealer is! maybe i should check out the grey market in delhi. any suggestions?

no offense, but frankly when you are making such a high budget (going by my level of expenditure), why risk buying from grey market. Invest a little more for peace of mind and m sure a 55-60" TV will be the centre of your HT set.! plus you can opt for extended warranties if you buy from relinace digital, croma etc.

agreed! but i still don't have an answer between a 55" hitachi led or 60" lg plasma for roughly the same price. cheers.

Just my perspective to this approach. A 55 Ex 720 is Retailed in Sony world in chennai for 139500/- and in croma 145000/- Whereas in Grey market it is as on date between 99 K to 1 lakh the saving is around 40 to 45K which we pay extra for a 12 months warranty.

A worst thing that can happen to a LED TV is blowing of the display panel (which i never heard of so for) which should cost you around 35K and the day change it is warrantied for a period of 6 months. Even if the same happens during warranty i am of great thinking will it be accepted by our dealers here and effect the replacement with out attributing it to any external force or possibilities. In such case we loose our peace of mind.

So I think it is sensible to buy from the grey marker or I would say it is worth the risk.

Still fishing for opinions!

LG Plasma 60" PV250 for 92,000
Hitachi LED 55" X04A for 98,000
Sharp LED 60" 630M for 1,65,000

Anyone?

I haven't seen those tvs so cant recommend any,but if you wana go big then get a PJ,there is nothg like the big screen and yes get a 32 led for regular Bedroom tv watchg. Normal cable is gonna look crap on those big tvs......happy huntg

projectors are not that great during day when light can not be easily controlled. I do have a projector, and I just ordered blackout lining for my large glass doors. About 10k expense just for the blackout lining (costing 180 per meter). But then there is light leaking in from many other places, which I MAY be or MAY NOT be able to control.
Meanwhile, I enjoy my movies during daytime on 50" plasma. It is small, but better PQ for day time.

picked up the sharp 60le630m - greed for size, it is not quattron but the picture is good. strange because on their website this model is listed as quattron. have asked the company and will wait for a response.
