New website for acoustic portrait is up

Hi Square_wave,

I see from your signature that you own a pre-power combo from Acoustic Portrait, and also figured from some of your posts that you have known this brand for a few years.

I was wondering if you have had a chance to hear the Swara pair. I am in the market to upgrade from my current Enbee pre-power combo, and was wondering if the APs fit the bill. I am looking for a sound that is smooth and fatigue free (am very sensitive to forward sounding systems).

It will be very helpful for me if you can give me an idea of how the AP house sound is. In case you have already heard the Swara combo, you opinion of these would also be helpful.

Being based in Ahmedabad, it is a little difficult for me to have direct access to an AP system, and hence I have to rely on help from fellow members.

If I feel that the AP combo fits the bill, I will definitely try and make a trip to B'lore to audition with my own music. Till then, your opinion and the opinion of other FM's who have experience with this brand counts.

Thanks,
Anand.

They have a good DAC too-
Acoustic Portrait

Features-
1. Support for ASYNC USB which enables us to overcome the 96 kHz limitation of a typical USB interface; The DAC will come with a CD containing drivers for various versions of Windows and MAC OS.
2. The DAC is capable of operating in native 24/192 KHz; This enables the user to take full advantage of the hi-resolution media that have been made available recently.
3. Flexible to accommodate various digital sources such as computers (media-servers), dedicated CD transport, Blu-ray players, media players (optical), etc.,
4. 8 independent power supplies for various circuits; In addition several voltage regulators and chokes are used on the digital circuits.

How does the amp sound?

Hello Anand,

I had their swara pre and power (earlier versions) till a year back. Now I have upgraded my pre, power and speakers (AP stopped making speakers) to their reference series. I am a satisfied customer with AP products since 2004! I have his new USB DAC too. If you happen to travel to Bangalore you can come and listen.

Regards,
Venu

Their DAC configuration seems to be good. It support USB and Optical not Network. In the era of digital music without a wired or wireless option DAC or Integrated amps are not worthy.

May be in a year or 2 manufacturers follow this as standard.
