Hello friends,

Pretty much new to this field, but living with one of the oldest dreams, to own a powerful and thumping music system at home.

After spending some significant amount of time at various forums I have shortlisted these:
AV receiver
1. Yamaha RX-V471
2. Yamaha RX-V373

Speakers
1. Polk TSi300
2. Yamaha NS7900
3. Yamaha NS8390

80% will be used for music and the rest to watch the movies that come on channels. Very rarely will we (wife and kid) be watching a DVD (I have to buy one)

Gurus, please suggest a better value for money setup, budget cant exceed 40k, really tight I know :)

Auditioned the PolkTSi300 and 400 with Yamaha rx-v471, 300 is pretty flat compared to the the 400.

Can anyone comment on how close will Tsi300 and Yamaha 8900 be, from specification the low frequencies looks more promising from 8900 at 28 Hz-38 kHz compared to 35-25KHz from TSi300

Hi,

the Tsi400 is better than Tsi300. Why are you only looking at Yamaha AVR and Polk speakers? there are so many other options. you should demo as many systems before deciding.

This is a great system and will sound better than the above combo.

Thanks aakashr for the link, I have ordered for Denon 1612, now my task is to find a good pair of floor standing speakers.

Auditioned Yamaha NS 8390, liked it because of the better low frequencies it produced compared to the TSi300. What I have realized is most Polk is highly rated because it gives very crisp high and mid ranges, but for people like me who are on a budget (and beginners) look for a all-in-one solution, I know we get HT packages for lesser price, but I want to stretch a bit so that in future if vitamin M permits I can add a sub as well, and may be a bit later replace the "all-rounder" towers too with a TSi500 or equivalent.

I see this forum is filled with fans of Wharfedale, Mordaunt, some kind of colonial impact ;)

I have realized the ground reality that looking at the specs I simply cant shortlist the speakers, I have to listen to as much as possible and come up with the best match for my ears.

I am open to suggestion from the experts here, my budget is 25000/- max!

Finally friends with some of your valuable inputs I managed to get the best possible home theatre setup ready within my budget. Its

1. Denon 1612 - 19,500/- Sourced from Amazon.de
2. Wharfdale Atlantic 400GE - 23,800/- - Vector, Bangalore

I am very happy on the setup and enjoying music like never before.

I sound stupid, but I never realized that 128kbps and 320kbps music has so much difference.

Congrats Drivesafe :clapping:

When did you order in Amazon and in how many days you got delivery?

The wharfdale package costs 60,999.00 in hifimart.
