Onkyo hts 3500 vs Yamaha YHT-298

My preference will be for the Yamaha 298. It has active subwoofer and even supports 4K passthrough. Also there is Onkyo 4505.

Audition Denon 1312 xp and Pioneer RS32 as well . Denon is best suited for movies / music both and Pioneer has FS front speakers !

Yamaha 298 has a balanced performance in music and movies however Onkyo 3500 is good for movies and is not that great for music. I prefer 298 over 3500. Audition both and go by what your ears tells you... All the best with your purchase!

I have recently purchased Yamaha 298 for a friend. It is really good for the price of 36k. Haven't checked onkyo

I think your comaprison should be more specific. Because Onkyo 3500 price is lesser than compare to YHT 298. So Yes YHT 298 will be good since it has more specifications than Onkyo 3500.

If your budget is above 30K, Please demo Onkyo 4505 which has all specs match to Yamaha except 4K I believe.

Personally I don`t have good experience of listening to music via USB. I had this LG dvd player, once while playing power went and the pen drive went kaput !

Currently have Sony HTiB Dz510, similar thing happened to me when I inserted the pen drive after copying few files, it simply went dead ! Since then never use pen drive with dvd player or htib.

I do own Asus HDP R1 media player for FLAC playback.

Will the USB playback better than Asus HDP R1 ?

My budget is around 30k, can stretch to 35k if get a good resale value for Sony Dz510.

Please suggest auditioning place for Onkyo 3500 & Yamaha 298/299 in Pune.

Thanks

Hi Prakash

I have auditioned both Onkyo S3500 and Yamaha YHT 299 but couldn't tell a difference. Could you please help me choose one?

I'm dead confused!

Thanks
Eshan
