Onkyo HTS 5300

Hello All,

I am in process of setting up my home theatere and need to buy a 7.1 channel HT to go with my Panasonic projecter for a 12 X 20 room.

I was planning to buy Onkyo 6200, but had to wait till my house construction is completed. It is now almost completed, but as you know 6200 is not available in India rather 5300 is the 7.1 replacement.

I could see very few but not detailed reviews on 5300. How does it fare when compared to 6200?

Anyone has heard or bought 5300, please share you experiences.

I have bought this and I am very happy with it.

Actually, I have not got much chance to audition it because I have 3.5 months old baby.

Hence, no detailed review. Anyways, I am not an audiophile.

Any HFV member living in Gurgaon is most welcome to visit my place and check its performance.

I have an Onkyo 7.1 HTIB model (HTS-790) infact that was the first 7.1 HTIB launched in India. It has been serving me pretty well for close to 4 years... I am very much pleased with it as for as Multichannel performance is concenrned..

When i went thru the specs on Onkyo India's webiste, all the specs look similar except for the power ratings. My system was rated 160 W/Ch at 8 Ohms, 1 kHz, 1 Channel Driven, JEITA, this is 160 W/Ch at 6 Ohms, 1 kHz, 1 Channel Driven, JEITA & ofcourse the decoding processors. Dolby True HD & DTS - HD Audio & Audessy HT processing setup & HDMI 1.4 (Mine doesnt have HDMI)

For how much are you getting it....

I believe 5300 is charged around 50K, and 6200 was once quoted @48K.

I bought it for 47k, bargain hard and you will get it for the same price.
