I notice that this has been recently launched Onkyo unveils HTX-22HDX 2.1-channel HD Home Cinema system - HiTech Review

For me, living in a rented house, this seems to be a perfect addition to my 50" Plasma, and a decent upgrade from my current Logitech Z232 Computers speakers. Was always weary about installing a full fledged home theater system, owing to the complexities, space required and the sheer number of cables, packaging materials and holes in the walls. Anyone has any idea whether this has been launched in India, and if so how much

65K huh...a bit pricey! my budget is low..30-35K Also notices in the website, the bulb holder sockets are not the regular Indian ones, but the "screw type" American ones. Which means I'd have to replace all the existing sockets too.

A simple "Not to my liking will do" ;)

Btw I had my eye on that onkyo 2.1 system you were talking about .. It was part discontinued in the UK region but seems to have relaunched again..... Try if you can source it from abroad.. Local it must be 50k+...

Guess I'll have to talk to my friend, who's a bank/wealth manager for the owners of Onkyo Distributors In India, he's got some real sweet deals from them on for his HT setup.

Take a look @ Sonodyne Ex-Bar (Sound Bar). There are 2 models in this range and also they have the 2.1Setup called P Qube. I had listened to Ex-bar for a brief period. I sounded pretty nice. the smaller one costs 25K, the bigger one costs around 35K. That should should suffice your need.

Take your chances and then settle down.

I did check out the soundbar, but it's only has RCA inputs, so basically pseudo surround sound using some custom DSP. No tru Dolby HD or DTS MA decoder or optical/digital coax inputs. The sound bar is good for people wanting to amplify regular TV sound (soap operas, sports etc), but might not make the cut for 5.1 Movies and Games.

The Onkyo is retailing for less than $300 in the US. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882120169 Even if it's 20K out here, it'll be worth it

Guys, I have a question about Onkyo HTX-22HDX.
Currently, the extra apeaker pack (Onkyo SKS-22X) of Center and Surround Speakers is not available in NCR region and all the authorised dealers have told that they are not sure when it (SKS-22X) will be available.
I read a lot of reviews and had the audition of 22HDX and I was quite impressed with the system.
However I'm more interested in making it a full 5.1 HT system.
Will this 22HDX system work with center and surround speaker of any other company such as Jamo/JBL etc. ?
If yes, what are the precautions (in terms of tech specs) I should take before buying center and surround speakers for Onkyo HTX-22HDX ?

Can I make Onkyo 22HDX a full time 5.1 system with another company's speakers also (such as JBL/Jamo) or only Onkyo SKS-22X speaker package is compatible with it ?
