Optimizing the foobar2000 player

With asio,I have some different settings than default-

Asio buffer - 960 samples
ticked Hardware Buffer (Buffer offset 8ms)
ticked Force WDM Driver to 16bit.

These setting didn't worked for me. The sound became awfully distorted. Back to the default setting now.

While the sound has improved to a large extent, there is some pops and cracks appearing like in vinyls. It sounds like some buffering issue. Any fine tuning for buffering? Mine is a XP machine with 1GB ram and core duo CPU.

You need to check Hardware buffer.If I keep 6ms,sound distorts & if 8(or more)it doesnt.So pls.check accordingly.

One of the most interesting features of Foobar2000 is the Convolver plugin.

This is because apparently you can use it to adjust the sound output using various filters - so you can use this for correcting for the frequency response of your room and flatten the output.

Digital room correction software (here - DRC: Digital Room Correction) helps you determine the frequency response of your room using a mic, your soundcard and your computer's processing power.

It helps develop filters which you can use through the Convolver in Foobar.

I am still learning how to put together the whole chain, but expect it to do wonders for playing music off the laptop.

I use the upnp plugin on foobar to let my oppo play the music via the amp and speakers.

Does using wasapi help in my case too?
