Hi

I've been using a Optoma HD 20 projector for the last 6 months. Its connected to a Sony Blue Ray DVD player. Since yesterday the HD 20 is not displaying any 1080 60HZ but its displaying if its 1080 24Hz. i.e. if I play a Blue Ray DVD the projecter is able to receive signal and I'm able to see the image. If the blue ray is stopped and I'm not able to see the sony menu, but the bottom right of the screen is showing "1080 60 hz' then the message cabges to 'No Signal'.

Tried playing normal DVD and there is no signal .I've tried using differnt HDMI cables and multiple ports. Tried checking the DVD by connecting to LCD and its working fine. Not sure what the issue is. Please suggest ......

Got the problem resolved by removing the projector from the mount and resetting all settings to factory setting. Found that the projector is not detecting 1080 60Hz signal if its sent through the 10meter hdmi cable but working fine with 3 meter cable(note the same 3 meter cable didnt work earlier, guess the reset fixed the issue). But still the 10 meter cable is able to transmit 1080 24 hz through. Not sure if the strength of 24hz is greater than 60hz. May be someone can help me understand better. So now I'm forced to keep the blue ray player within 3 meter from the projector and not under the screen. Can someone tell me if I get an amp and run hdmi through that will it solve the issue with10 m cable....

24hz requires lesser bandwidth than 60hz, hence may be working on the poor quality cable. Ideally you should buy a better cable.

Otherwise see if you can force your player to output at 24hz always.

Another option is to set the player to output 1080i.

HDMI is always shaky more than 25 ft. you need certified cables beyond that length.

I too am facing the same problem with Sony BDP s380. I am using 15M HDMI 24AWG cable, this cable works good with ASUS O!Play Mini and Dell Laptop. But when I connect to Sony BDP I see only noise on the screen.

I tried with BDP S470 also, it is the same case. To solve this problem I am using an HDMI Repeater bought from Amazon.com

Another Tip: Try switching on your Bluray player before turning on power to HD20 (Should be in complete OFF NOT Stand By)

@Niceguy... which HDMI Cable are you using?
10m chinese non branded or some gud branded cable..
its obvious that the cable is @ fault, so in case u r using a chinese cable , would suggest you to change to a gud cable.
