Hi, couple of days back I have ordered this Blu-ray player directly from Amazon USA. (Black Friday deals) It should reach me in Mumbai by 8th Dec. Total cost Rs. 6000 including shipping and import duties. Shall let you know when I receive the same and how it works :-)

I ordered about 8 BR movies yesterday on Black Friday deals. It was fun. Almost half my BR collection is ordered from Amazon. Good deals.

reju, where did you ship to - Mumbai? Most of my orders other than BR shows cannot be shipped to this address.

 6000 for the player including shipping and customs... That is some serious blackfriday deal... Congrats...:clapping:

Is the deal still available on Sat-Sunday also? Which BR movies you have ordered and at what price?

What would be a good choice for region free BR player in India?

Hey Amit,

Check out the deals dispalyed at Blu-ray, Blu-ray Movies, Blu-ray Players, Blu-ray Reviews

They are Amazon deals. The above link allows you to browse the lowest prices and best deals very easily. When you want to buy, it redirects to Amazon.com.

I got these region free discs:
1) Angels & Demons (Theatrical and Extended Edition)
2) The Departed
3) The Passion of the Christ (The Definitive Edition)
4) The Reader
5) V for Vendetta
6) Wanted
7) Watchmen (Director's Cut)

Total:
Subtotal of Items: $76.92
Shipping & Handling: $36.91
Promotion Applied: -$0.00
Promotion Applied: -$0.00
Lightning Deal: -$14.49
------
Total for this Order: $99.34

Balck Friday deals runs from 22-Nov to29-Nov. I got Angels & Demons at $1.99 :) Even after the period keep checking the site to see lowest prices. The Dark Knight was just $8.99 a month back when I ordered.

Not sure of any available region free player. I have a Sony that's region C locked. Unless you are buying region A or B discs a region free player does not help (... stating the obvious!). Most discs are anyways region free. There are mod kits available but I have no clue about it. Look at the BR forum.

Yes, Mumbai itself. Nowadays quite a few items (other than books and DVDs) can be shipped to India. But at the same time, say another LG Blu-ray player could not be shipped!

careful what you connect to it. Its only got 50W capacity so DVDP or CDPs are OK. Dont try to hook up amplifiers or anything as they will go toast. Also no earth pin so be very careful.

Yes for AVRs and other heavy duty appliances, one needs to get the converter according to the wattage. 1KW converter may cost around 1.5K
