Hey guys,

Getting a p42v20d for 33.5K - it's a demo piece with 4,600 hours of useage on it and 640 switch off count.

Inputs?

4,600 hours of useage on it and 640 switch off count.
that's equivalent to second hand, not demo piece.... based on hours, its been used for more than a year

Mate, I would suggest you drop this deal and wait for a better option......not worth going in for this piece with so many hours already done.

Aye, I've decided not to opt for it. However, any of you know where I can get a good deal on the 42GT20D in Mumbai?

The brand store is quoting 70K with 2x 3D Glasses.

Why not samsung 51D490, best 'bang for bucks' in your budget.
43" if size is an issue.
need to cope with some reflection though.

I'd rather get a good tele in my budget than go for "bang for the buck" and get a mediocrely large tele. Thus the 42GT20D. It's 3D, it SHOULD fall within my budget and it's a great Plasma on a whole.

Getting 42GT20 for >60k is a mistake.
For 70k, you can get 50VT20 which is both bigger (42 vs 50) and better (GT vs VT) than the 42GT20.
42ST30 sells for 65k. Even that is better than the 42GT20.

Thanks for the suggestions in your previous post. These are the prices I've received so far:

1. 42GT20D - 70K (Yeah, right!)
2. 42ST30D - 65K (Maybe slightly negotiable)
3. 50ST30D - 75K (Maybe slightly negotiable with 2x 3D Glasses, 3 Years Warranty and Keyboard)
4. 50VT20D - 74K (Negotiable to 70-72K with 2x 3D Glasses, Keyboard and 3 Year Warranty)

Only problem is, my budget was strictly 50-55K - so now, what should I do?

Since ST30 > GT20 - It's definitely out.

That leaves the 42ST30D or the 50VT20D - what should I do? :|

P.S. I've already enlisted in that group buy thread, but with shipping and octroi I think it'd work out to the same thing out here as well.

Let me know if you got these prices from Croma at Mumbai. I am trying to get Croma guys at Bangalore to give VT20 at around 70k with 2x glasses, but am unable to do so. If you got it from another outlet, probably Croma's monopoly is ending and we can expect better prices shortly.

Croma Mumbai has it for 80K. The 50ST30 is available at a Dealer for 75K and the 50VT20 is available at a Pune Dealer.

That is highly impossible. Check again.

Care to put your money where your mouth is?

My alias is Unrealistic, what fun would it be if I wasn't able to live up to my reputation? ;)

I've done my research on the availability and prices quite thoroughly. If anyone in Mumbai wants it for the above mentioned price, let me know. If I wasn't restricted by a budget, I would've picked up the 50VT20 from Pune for 72K. Or maybe the 50ST30 for 75K considering it's a newer model and saves me the trip to Pune.

Sigh!

So, If I understand right, You want a TV for 50-55k, You have listed all TVs above this range, You dont want to buy 50D490 which is in your budget because it is medeocre, and you are asking what to do?

Your only hope is to find 42GT20 or a 42V20 in the price range. If they are not available, wait for as long as it takes for this year models to reach the price next year.

I am not sure why any dealer would list a 42ST30 for 65k and 50ST30 for 75k. These vary widely in their mrp. Thats why confused. It is a very good price for it but I would still go with the VT20 for 72k with 2 glasses.

50VT20 does NOT have 2D->3D built in. You must factor in that during the purchase. All other panasonic 3D tvs have this including 42GT20.
