Hi folks. After going round half a dozen showrooms in Hyderabad, I have shortlisted two TVs - the Panasonic Plasma 50U30D and the Sony 46CX520.

Price wise, the Pana is being quoted at 65K and the Sony at 69K. Probably I can get a further discount of 2 or 3 K on the Pana, but the Sony price seems to be 'fixed'. Anyway, price is close enough not to be relevant for the choice.

To us, Picture quality is the most important consideration. 3D not needed, no games, internet and Wifi do not matter - we just want the best viewing experience using Tata Sky HD and from our DVD player (mostly old Hindi and English movies). And may be an occasional blue-ray rip played through our laptop. Ability to play movies from USB is also only a 'nice to have' feature, because we can always connect the laptop to the TV through HDMI to play videos.

On looking up reviews, I find the Sony, despite being an LCD, is reported to have very good black levels and a very high level of colour accuracy. It surely 'looks' better than the Panasonic and we are tempted to for it.

Would appreciate if anyone can tell me what I will be missing if we choose the Sony over the Panasonic. Thanks!
