Samsung also makes some very good plasma's and in fact might be better than panasonic in entry level plasma's. But with panasonic's new 2012 line even the mediocre UT has now been overhauled and sparkles amongst its other brothers. Would it be fair to compare ST50 with E550..............probably not. Suggest you to study all the reviews and then go and demo the tv's you have shortlisted, side by side if possible and then decide. Both are excellent tv's. Always trust your eyes..........play HD and SD and see how the tv handles the signals. Take your time and make a decision.
 
There are lots of people in this forum like me having last years 51D550 and are extremely happy with this incredible tv !!! 2012 model 51E550 has improved even more and has even better features !!!

Yes, someone in the forum has posted that the motherboard of his 51E550 went off and hence had to return the tv !! But this can happen with any tv in the world right?? Dont bother about such cases.

Panasonics ST50 might be more critically acclaimed but in real world usage both 51D550 and 51E550 is very very good performers and have tremendous features and you will be very happy with it !! Trust me !!

Also for 3D, it is good to have atleast a 50 inch TV because it should cover your field of vision to give immersive effect . Hence for around 68-69k with 2 glasses 51E550 is gr8 value for money tv !! But if you are willing to pay 1 lakh plus buy the 50ST50 or for another 20k more buy the 50GT50 but otherwise for all practical purposes 51E550 is a clear winner!!!

I have contacts about where 51E550 is available cheapest. So pm me if you are interested.
Also samsung 3d glasses are available very cheap on ebay korean sellers, i bought from them myself. You can get 2 latest samsung ssg-4100 glasses for around 50$ inclusive shipping. Pm me if you want the links for that

Price vs PQ and Features, really irresistible. So I will have demo again in Samsung Plaza before getting back to you.

All the Panasonic 2012 models are available at Kohinoor, Dadar, Mumbai. contact Mr. Sunil (09930101234) i'm gonna check out 50gt50 this weekened. BTW i'm planning to buy 65VT50 this time.

Thanks a lot akasmarty2003. I called Mr. Sunil but he said stock will come in two three days. I am now impatient to order a plasma TV. I waited longer than I would otherwise. If I get firm commitment from Panasonic guys then that is fine, otherwise I will order Samsung 51E550 in two days.

But appropriate your prompt reply. Thanks again. I would prefer 2012 Panasonic Plasma over Samsung E550 but how much one should wait.

A television is a long term investment. Waiting a few days for something better is no brainer IMHO.

AWESOME!!!...............VT50 is one of the BEST if not the best tv available today........I envy you. Please post review and pics.

Hi i think you should wait. We dont buy a tv everyday. Panasonic 2012 looks really good with amazing picture quality. Thats the best combination.
