Panasonic E6 - How to connect external speakers?

Sorry for opening new thread but I thought I should.

Has anyone tried to connect their E6 to external speakers / headphones?
I refer to my post here:

I have 2 RCA to 3.5mm cable but when I connect it to TV, the sound comes out of TV only and not from my headphones. Any clue why?

I am not sure on Anubis post as I don't think the TV has RCA out but only S/PDIF (optical) out. Please try pm him on his post.

I don't think u can directly connect RCA or 3.5 mm jack to the tv as the TV only has digital optical out put. You need to get a speaker system which accepts optical input and connect a optical audio out cable like Toshiba Toslink cable from tv to the sound system via the digital output port of tv to the speaker. Please note that if ur planning on a optical audio in port sound system it is usually for 10k and above. Cheaper options don't have optical ports


Another option is to get a converter from digital audio optical to rca converters. I am not sure whether u have an optical out to 3.5 mm converters, even though quick search on Google gave some results. But both these converters is a conversion from digital to analogue signal, so it may not give the actual quality sound which the source produces.


Again in my personal opinion the sounds of the TV is pretty decent on normal DTH and pen drive/ smart tv app plays, so not sure whether u actually need a sound out

The E6 has only optacal out.
You need a digital to analog converter, somehing like this. You will need an optical cable for this connection.

An adaptor like this to convert RCA to 3.5mm
2 RCA Male TO 3 5mm Stereo Female Jack Audio Connector Splitter Adapter Joiner | eBay

So your chain will be TV optical out --> converter --> adaptor --> headphones
