Are the Panasonic BDPs sold in India modifiable to make then region free via ICOS chips?

For example, the bluraymods.com com says:

- BD-45 mod will work on EU player only
- BD-60 mod will not work on USA player (nothing said about India player)

Has any one tried to mod a player purchased in India?

I bought a Pan BD60 player from a local imported goods dealer. I havent done any mods but it plays all regions. have you tried playing blurays from all regions on the above?

if you buy a region a player chances are that it will play everything, because most of the C region( sold in india) are all marked regiona/b/c, and not many region b only discs out there

You may have purchased an already modified BDP. By default it is not region free. How much did you pay?

I have not purchased this player. I am just asking. I have a Region A unmodded Sony BDP-S350 player.

Hmm. Not always true but usually so (true 99.9% of the times). As stated above, I have Region A player. Last week, I purchased "Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian" from Landmark Book Store. The BD is clearly marked Region A/B/C on the cover as well as the disc inside. Yet my player refuses to play it.

Further, I would like to avail the opportunity to buy BDs from Amazon, UK because of the free shipping offer (which I hope they extend beyond May 15). The problem is many of the BDs do not state "Region Free". Hence I am contemplating of buying a second BDP and making it region free.

The cover on the one I bought, specifically says this unit plays Region A BD's and DVD's from all regions. I dont know if Panny does company mods but I know the guy I bought it from doesn't do any. He's just a trader. I paid Rs.11,000 for it. No warranty though. FYI apart from the model no of DMP-BD60 there's another denotation of GA-K on the side. Don't know what it stands for.

Check with these guys.
Yes. I had written to them yesterday. Just now received a reply saying that the Indian model cannot be modified (i had provided the link).

Panasonic does not do any mods. From the price you paid, it appears to be unmodded player. Have you played Region B Blu-Ray discs on the player?

You may need to upgrade the firmware on your player; check the details about it here:

Thanks for the reply. But ...

a) I don't own a Panasonic BDP. I own Sony S350, Region A.
b) It is upgraded to the latest firmware.
c) I doubt whether the older firmware will display a message like "This disc will not play because of wrong region code" - for any brand player.

Hi

I recently purchased a Panasonic BDP 45 and it is not playing all the DVD's . I have few DVD's which I like them very much and wish to watch these movie via my BDP 45. Is there any possibility that I can make my player region free atleast for DVD's.

Thanks and regards
Vijay
