Panasonic Plasma U30 (P42U30D) not available?

I wanted to buy the Panasonic plasma P42U30D during Diwali but everyone in Pune told me that the model was out of stock.

1) Does anyone know the reason for this? I was told by one panasonic showroom manager that the U30D was experiencing a lot of complaints so the company has stopped sending this model into the market until they rectify all the problems. Is this true or is there any other reason?

2) What is the best price I should get for the U30D? So far, the best quote I have managed to get is Rs. 44,000.

3) I wanted to buy a plasma with the neo-PDP panel but the only ones available now are in the UT/VT/ST series with 3D. There is no plasma available in the PDP panel without 3D and at a cheaper budget. Does anyone know whether Panasonic is planning to launch any new non-3D TVs with this panel?

4) The difference in price between X30D (Rs 33,000) and U30D (Rs 44,000) is almost 11,000. Is the picture quality difference worth this price difference?

I got 42x30d during diwali for my father. I am so happy with the performance ( even though it is only HD) .

I immediately decided to go for full HD 42U30d.But i faced same problem ,all stokes are washed out.
But i am happy that it happened.
My dealer called me yesterday saying all the prices are gone down and invited me to his shop ( ex. 42st30 was available during diwali at 68K and now 64K).

I am planning to see the performance of the 42 ut30d which is the next model to the 42st30d.I hope i will get it between 55-58.( 10 k more for 3d)

I not seen any review of the model. Hopefully mine will be first one

You cannot find any difference between X30 and U30 from normal viewing distance.
There might be slightly discernable difference from 6 feet on complex bluray movies like avatar. Nothing from 8+ foot.

I was just watching "ram gopal warma"'s "adnayat .The jungal defth was super.Just like happaning infront of me.

If budjet permit me i will go for st30 ( as you said ) or i will bring 50x30.Realy nice one.waiting for best deal

[BLASTO] After diwali, some models go out of stock. The dealer is just bullshitting.

[BLASTO] Thats true. No 2D neopdps this year. If you can get hold of a 42V20 or a 42GT20, it would be great. But these are last year models and you may not find them.

[BLASTO] No. Infact, you should go for Samsung D450 or D490 plasmas instead of going to any non neopdp panasonics. They cost 34k and 40k respectively.

Hi,

Even I heard one dealer saying panasonic has discontinued making U30D model.
But, when I contacted "Rajesh Trading co", opp yashwantrao chavan natyagruha, kothrud, they said they have placed an order with panasonic and I will be able to get this model in 2-3 days.

The irony is I placed the order on 26th Oct and still I haven't got the TV.:sad:

The latest update what I got from the dealer is they got the shipment but 7 of the TVs came damaged due to negligence of the transport people.
I will update once I get the TV(if at all).
So, you may want to wait and watch.

The quote I got from this guy is 45000 Rs for U30D.
The best quote I have seen is from flipcart(~42000) but, flipcart doesn't ship these to Pune.

I think U30D is the best full HD plasma TV in this range. And Panasonic is the best when it comes to plasmas.

I have a dark room and the TV will be mounted on a black wall. I paid Rs. 33,000 here in Pune.
