Did you check the price at the Panasonic showroom in Anna Nagar? Not sure if the shop is still around, I got some stuff from them last year and they offered the best price in town.

For buying a LCD/Plasma Flipkart is the only store that I would trust. You may have pay a little more when your buying from a local retailer but it saves you from all the hassles that you may have to go through if some thing goes wrong in an online buy.

Thanks for ur response. Only 3 Panasonic showroom in Chennai (Anna salai,T.nagar, Ambattur) retails TVs. Other panny SRs retails A/C,etc but not TVs.

why not try at other large multibrand stores?. There you can compare other brands and bargain prices.

Most of the Multi-brand showrooms, here market only for Sony, Samsung and LG. I visited Panasonic Mount Road Show room yesterday, and I was shocked to see that there were not a single piece for demo. They had moved all the Tv to second floor as construction for Chennai Metro rail is under-process in Mount Road.

Later I visited Viveks Mylapore, There were no Panasonic Plasmas there. They were interested in marketing Samsung and Sony or LG [LED's]

Thats the status of Panasonic in Chennai, I am not sure of the GN Chetty Road S/r.

Also,Prices are very highly quoted in Viveks.

Same is here in Kochi. Sony TVs are displayed most and too at the prime spot, followed by LG and Samsung at third place. Other brands are hard to find execpt for largest of the shops.

I have expected this (high prices)... Before 1 month i hv visited Panny room(mount rd),tat time itself i would see only 50X50D & 42XT50 only & No hi-end models. You can visit G.N Cheety Td, sure they ll hv GT, ST series..,
Sad, to hear tat Panny TVs in Chennai are positioned poorly compared to Sony, Sammy & LG. :sad:

How much they hv quoted for your ST series? How much is the cost difference compared to other cities..
By any chance, have you enquired the price of 42X50D?
Whats ur Plan - Gonna Wait.?
 
If its cheaper in Bangalore - why not buy it here and have it transported via Volvo bus or some friend who is visiting? Tens of thousands of folks drive between the two cities every weekend..am sure you would know some one who would do that?
 
Guess that would be the last option to try with.. Can you suggest a few stores .. let me try to visit this weekend and see..

ST Series are nowhere in Chennai and None of the dealers want to quote any price at the moment....
I checked with Mount Road Show room for x50D, think he quoted 60+ for 50". You can Call and ask for Mr Raman. he will help on this.

I will wait and buy..

TV price +
Transportation cost of 42inch tv from show room to Bus Depot +
Bus Depot to Chennai +
Chennai Bus Depot to my place +
& the huge transit risk involved in fragile Plasma glass panel for which the Volvo fellow wont take any responsibility..,

When u visit G.N Chetty Panny, also give a try in Other showrooms like Croma, Reliance Digital, Viveks, Vasanth & Co.
