Hi,
I recently purchased the following combination Home Theatre System
Paradigm CT70 5.1
Denon 1612

Its been about 3 months. In the last few days i have started noticing a peculiar issue with the sub-woofer. This happens especially when the system is kept on a standby mode for a long time.

When in standby the sub-woofer goes in idle mode i.e. Red light.
When the system is turned back ON, the sub-woofer does not become active. The green light remains. A couple of times i see it going green/active when music (ipod) starts playing but its not always.

In such cases my only option is to turn off the entire system for a few seconds and turn it back on. All works fine. This for now has happened only during initial start up. Once it plays it continues to work fine. It happens for both BD player or iPod connectivity.

I dont think it is any loose cable issue. I have already checked that and it seems to be ok.

Need some troubleshooting advice.

Hi,

THough i dont have any advice for you, I am also thinking of a set-up like this... do let me know your experience, what price you got it from.

I have the same setup with the denon 1611. I am not n front of the sub right now, but I remember there being a auto on seNsitivity switch. You could fiddle with that.

I've noticed this on my sub right from the very beginning - its not very good at detecting an incoming signal. I simply turn it to "on" when I need it and then turn it "off" when I don't. Far easier.

Please note that the sub will activiate when it senses incoming inputs at the lower frequencies to restart itself. So when you activate your amp then perhaps the input to the sub does not go. I have the same set and observe a delay of a few seconds before it activates. So I estimate that it waits until the lower frequencies pass thro to activate. Also since the frequency separation is done in the amp (use a Kenwood 5.1) I have set the sub to pass most of the lower frequency (at the bottom of the recommended range - white marking). Perhaps this helps.
Of course the alternative is to keep it continuously no - change from auto to continuous on (switch is at the back). Of course then you are not a green enthusiast anymore :).

Owners of the CT70sub - please note that the sub is under recall for a fire incedent - check on their websites. You need to change the fuse to avoid this issue. Please do so. If you write to the service guys they will send you the fuse too.

@ palitrana - This being my first ever HT system I am very much satisfied. I got the whole system for 58K in Dec 2011.

Regarding the problem i just Turn on the Sub whenever I need it and turn it off otherwise. Been working fine this way
