One is Sun Infonet Pvt. Ltd. who are auth. dealers for Shure and a few more brands, headed by a guy named Ranjeet. BTW, they also ship cartridges without additional shipping charges.

I also have a AF-729, I have had it for about 20 years. It runs great, but I have a question. In the back left corner is a post. From other pictures I have seen it appears to be another arm with brushes. Where can I find this arm to make this unit complete?

IMO the post which you are looking at may be a place to stack the Record Adapter for 45 RMP records etc Just like this

Further i still think you can mount another tonearm too, if you wish to..

I wonder if anybody has any experience with repairing this Philips model?

I have an AF729 however when trying to play a record the arm lowers to the record so that the needle touches but straight away returns to the arm holder without playing the record. The turntable then keeps spinning and will not stop until the power is turned off.

Does anyone have some advice or is it a lost cause?

There will be a reject button which may be engaged causing the arm to come back each time the arm comes to the record position and the timing may have become out of position. The Phillips players are not very easy to repair as they have lots of long levers which control the return mechanism. It is a good TT. There may be some technician near your place who may be able to help you. I would not suggest you try anything if you are sure of it. All the best
