Hey guys....after a little research, I have decided that i want to add this home theater (Philips HTS3541) to my 46" LED TV.......i would be able to get it ~12k, and thats maxing out my budget....

I specifically chose this one because this has an optical input, while my tv (46EH5000) only has optical out, NO coax......

please tell me whether this is a good buy at this price, or is there any other product WHICH WOULD GIVE BETTER SOUND, for the same or lesser price..., because sound is all im interested in........

please do share your views and experience with this product......thanx......

at this budget its dificult to get good sound.
try sonodyne amp and 2 bookshelf....under 18k totak maybe.
phillips these kind of products are not worth to buy.
better to buy a 2k pc speaker set up than this, and save money for at least 25k entry level htib from onkyo/denon/yamaha

Ok........i thought so too....

i am considering the audio engine a2......i'll get them for around 13k.....whatsay about those???

Check out Logitech PC speakers... some of them come with digital input and they will sound great for TV, games, etc.

Also, any other PC speakers like Edifier.

Do stay away from the likes of Philips, Sony, etc.

Also, if you can save up then nothing like a HTIB from Onkyo (3400/3500) or Yamaha (YHT 296/298). They will deliver superior SQ and also last a long time.

Hey thanxs........BTW do you think i should prefer edifier/logitech over a pair of monitor speakers.....? would they sound BETTER?

Monitors would be more ideally suited for music. Creative/Logitech/Edifier for movies, gaming and other PC related activities.

PS - I've not heard any low end monitors and my exposure is primarily limited to Genelec.

But having said that, both have their pros and cons... PC speakers especially with a sub-woofer make for an overall better experience especially when watching movies and for gaming.

Decide based on your need... I'm assuming since its speakers for the TV you need a 5.1 setup and not monitors.

Ohk.......my usage for music would be minimal, so i guess going that extra mile for monitors isnt worth it.......

Even if i buy a 5.1 system, still i'll be keeping all the speakers in a single line under the TV :), atleast for the moment, so i guess 5.1 or 2.1 wont make that much of a difference......

Do you have any idea whether these philips/lg/sony 5.1 systems are just "not audiophile material", or "positively horrible and impossible to listen to even in daily life"????

I mean, are they easy on the ears? i wont mind a few missing details, but if the speakers are ANYTHING like what comes inside the TV itself, then I have no use for them.......

Is there ANYONE here who owns a philips/lg/sony home theatre and doesn't hate it??? :)

Hi,

That's a good speaker you are talking about, it has good feature like Self-powered, Leather-look baffle and perforated metal grille,Onboard volume, bass, and treble controls, Includes 3.5mm stereo phone plug adapter cable these are the few features, which you may like.
