This is a full HD 46" model that is available at ezone for 54K. The price looks too good to be true for a 46 incher, that too with 2+2yrs warranty, so I was wondering if there is anything wrong with this particular model. I tried searching the forum for reviews, but only found passing references of it.

Would really appreciate if someone can provide a 1st hand review of this TV. Also, pls suggest a few TVs in the 50-60K price range.

Many Thanks

go for LG 47 LE4600....its a 47" LED....was on sale for around 67k...with free LG bluray player....

Thanks Guys. I'll definitely consider these options. But first, I would like to explore the Philips deal a bit more... it's far cheaper than the Samsung and LG and on the face of it, looks like a great VFM choice. Btw, it's also got a USB 2.0 port that plays movies/music off a flash drive.

Tried googling the model but there aren't any reviews available. So far I've figured out that the US version has a 1ms response time and 240Hz LCD panel, while the Indian version has a 6.2ms response time and does not specify the performance of the LCD panel. Why Philips will sell two very different tech TVs with the same model number, I have no clue. Not being conversant with LCD tech, I'm not sure whether this difference in performance amounts to two completely different LCD panels being used or it's just a different firmware. Incidentally, the US site also has a firmware update available for this model - dunno whether that can be used to update the Indian version as well, but I guess not.

I'm hoping someone on this forum has experienced this TV first hand and can give some insights.

I have seen this Phillips TV besides LG LE7500 and noticed terrible pixellation of the same source on this one while LG was playing them fine. I believe LG LE4600 might be a better deal though you might get a Videocon DVR with 4 years subscription and 4 years warranty on Phillips.

I have been following Philips LCD tvs very closely.
The reason was that the service centre is in the basement of building few steps away apart from crazy pricing.

I have tested their 42 inch 5505 and 5555 model and 46 inch 5505 model quite seriously in the arena.

If one is not too keen, this tv looks ok in first visit. But in the third one I started finding very disturbances / pixelation. etc.
There is no motion jarring, the black levels are good. Remote is good, playback is good I tried various formats from my 80gb hardisc and thumbdrive too. I was impressed. In fact I find their LCd models better than the LED models.

But after I watched the sony klv40bx400, I could say philips wasn't upto standard.

If compared to other second rung brands like vu, onida, panasonic (LCD only not plasma), videocon etc philips is superior. However it somehow in my opinion lacks to sony.

Since it was matter of 50odd grand I thought better to postpone till sony is affordable.
But believe me philips is selling like hot cake in tier 2 and 3 cities. I dont know about metros.
