Hi I have an old Phillips GA 242 player, with a lot of difficulty I got it fixed and it was working well till we moved and the stylus and the tone arm broke from the stand. When I got it checked, the service person told me it is difficult to source the stylus these days and that the amp is not functioning properly and needs to possibly be replaced it currently, he mentioned he can remove it off the stand and fit a new amp and finding a stylus is difficult. Is it worth getting fixed? What should I keep in mind when getting fixed? Thanks in advance,

Very sad to see this turntable arm broken at the pivot. Not an easy repair. This appears to be one of the earlier models possibly 1975-76. In case it has the original GP 390 cart then stylus is difficult to procure. However an aftermarket Audio Technica cart can be easily fitted , but only if you can somehow repair the arm. Are those Videocon speakers? Mid 80s.

Thank you for your response, yes this is a 75-76 model from my grandfather. I'm trying to see if I can fix it again coz of sentimental value :(. Thank you for the Audio technica tip. The speakers are videocon from the 80s. I got a refurbished one when I got the player fixed the first time and it's fantastic sound even now.
