You should also consider Onkyo 3300 which you can get at around INR 20/21K with some negotiation (Reliance Digital/Croma). It is same as 3400 minus one HDMI and front inputs. For a medium size room of 200/250 sq.ft., it has enough power and punch even at 60% volume.

Other options identified by you will not give the result. If you look at specifications, Pioneer and Sony are rated at 4ohm and 10% THD - that means less clarity and loss of sweetness.

Whereas Onkyo's THD (Total harmonic distortion) is 0.08% at 6 Ohms..The sound quality is mindblowing..cant compare with anything else at this price range..

Hey Buddy,

I agree with Vkatta and Samy.

I have 3200 and is really good and one of my friends has 3300 and he is quite satisfied. He likes to watch Movies and also plays with Nintendo Wii. There is Game mode in it which he uses. Hope this was useful. Onkyo is my personal choice in that budget and doesn't mean that it'd for all.

It also depends on one's liking... Since, you like playing on PS3... I'd say.... download few game videos of your choice (might be from youtube) and try it out in the shop. See, which one you feel is quite realistic or to your liking and go for it.

I'm not a pro in this field. So, that's what I'd have done.

All the best!!!

Hi,

I have also used a sony 5.1 ht in the past which I had liked at first after that only I have realized that they are not in great in sound quality a dedicated avr with speaker combination is needed to produce the great sound quality. So I advice you to go with the onkyo avr 3400 setup.... Dont make a mistake by going with sony 5.1. not to hurt anyone but this is my experience.... :)

I have both onkyo 3400 and jbl SCS140bk+avr 134. If you are looking for a hassle free system with good sound, go for onkyo as it has HDMI audio processing and you wont need an extra digital in cable for sound. But if you're looking for better sound, go for jbl even though its receiver is hdmi pass thru. Both are equally priced. And don't go in for a brand like sony as it isn't an audio brand and their dvd integrated amps can't even be compared to the likes of onyo and harmon-kardon(jbl).

Hope this helps :)

Dude, go for onkyo 3400 if you want a hassle free system as it has hdmi audio processing and you won't need an extra digital in cable for sound from your ps3. But, if you're looking for better sound for the same price, go for jbl SCS 140 BK + Avr 134 pacakage, which although doesn't have hdmi processing, sounds much better. I have jbl installed in my room (also paired with ps3) and my brother has onkyo in his. And whenever we decide to watch a movie, its my room that we choose so I guess that says it all. Whichever you select don't go for non audio brands like sony as their 'dvd integrated' amps can't even be compared to the likes of onkyo and harmon-kardon(jbl).

Hope this helps.....

can u pls tell me where can i get the 3300 at that price in chennai ? thanks !

Pioneer 071 - missing lods of features and sound is not very crisp.

Sony Bdv380 - check out reviews abt it, too many issues with lag, slow and hang problem. Also, currently Sony India has not officially launched it and will be launching in mid May which will cost you @ 16-19K.

My choice:
Onkyo 3400 - no doubt, the best... go for it. I recently bought it on Ugadi @ 32K incl. BDP 3200 Blu Ray player and no comparison honestly.
